I was responding to the previous closed thread where someone aske this:

quote:

I just never hear Bruce mentioned amongst the best and can't understand why. He was incredible

I'll make a case why.

1) Was on an absolutely dreadful team for most of the 90s that was located in St. Louis. This makes his achievements greater, but he received no attention.

2) When the Rams got good, he was sharing the field with Torry Holt. While Bruce is 4th all time according to Wikipedia, Holt retired at 10th all time, so maybe he stole some thunder, not to mention maybe there is "system" bias against him, because of the Greatest Show on Turf.

3) Issac Bruce is one of the quietest superstar WR's ever. Not a self promoter. Holt was, did take some of the limelight away you could say but Bruce didn't want attention

When they were playing together, it was Holt that was the star. Bruce was the beneficiary of Holt getting so much attention. Both guys had good stats in the heyday, but Holt was No. 1 and Bruce was No. 2.

Solid case, tbh.

Both guys were outstanding players. Who was the #2 WR for the Rams between Bruce's start and when Holt got there? Sure, Holt being drafted made it easier for both to excel, I just don't remember much about their receivers before then what kind of matchups Bruce was faced with.

Both outstanding WRs. Bruce was great, but Holt was better.

random, S-esque thread. i would take holt in his prime when healthy - more upside, but bruce was more consistent and durable over time.

az hakim vs ricky proehl
