Is this the year Goodell does away with Thursday Night Football?

Or at least abbreviates it to the last six weeks of the year starting with Thanksgiving?

We've all heard this waters down the NFL's appeal.

If the NFL wants to keep six windows of opportunity open to watch football, then let Fox and CBS run doubleheaders each Sunday like they do in Week 17, not just rotate each week who gets to air a doubleheader (Fox or CBS).

Here's hoping the NFL does away with Titans vs Jaguars on Thursday Night.

It's a game on TV that I wasn't going to watch if It was played on Sunday. It's usually two crap teams, so I have given in to the fact that it's on Thursdays.

Gives some entertainment to Fantasy Football

Well, he's so concerned about player safety, and playing a game on 3 days rest goes against that.

There's money to be made off of it so no.

And as someone else said, it's a game I normally wouldn't watch. I won't complain unless the Broncos are playing in it.

Don't do away with it completely but go back to the formula from years ago. Maybe 5 thursdays a season. Opening weekend then a few games after college wraps up. It's used to be a big deal and special. Bring that back.

They should make that the Global Game. Have it all over the world. Give teams the bye the week before and then they'd have a long week to recover. Other than that shut these shite Thursday games down.

Yep. Opening night, Thanksgiving, and a few others. And it should always be teams coming off a bye.

I've found it to be the opposite. It has completely screwed up the waivers routine as well as studying up on the weekend before the game starts. Makes FF an all week thing and most people don't want it to be that way.

It should start after the week 4 bye

Always feel bad for the teams that have to play week 2

The money the NFL gets means the game won't go away unless the tv money decreases. Given ESPN's problems and the albatross MNF is for ESPN, we may end up having to pay for each NFL game like the Direct Tv package.

So if you get your wish and they do away with it. What's the alternative that I'm supposed to be excited about? Best case, on thursday nights I'll get to watch..( ) instead

This is universally accepted as true, yet I've never seen any data confirming this.

"Goodell" isn't going to do anything unless the owners direct him to.

Cowheard did a segment on the TNF player saftey issue. Players received fewer injuries on TNF than a Sunday game.

College football.

There used to be some great matchups on Thursday nights. Now that the NFL took it over the conferences are wary of putting great matchups on that night.

I still remember a #1 FSU team losing on a big Thursday night game decades ago. Used to be a big deal.

I doubt it. I wish they would move the TNF game to the 325 slot.

there is still some solid matchups. Houston vs Louisville wasn't a great game but awesome environment.

I also found AAC football to be awesome to watch last year. So there were more than a few Thursday games that I was into.
