Interesting note. I hadn't bothered to tally the records.

Chip Kelly was not the head coach in 2008. In the time Kelly has been head coach, LSU has gone 25-6.

Ooops.

Except LSU has been making those same kind of plays against every opponent. Which is why Tyrann Matthieu is being interviewed by Erin Andrews this coming Gameday.

Try and keep up.

Gave those to LSU?

Really? Well if you want to argue you lost because your team sucks/makes stupid mistakes then have at it - but I tend to like the storyline on a good team forcing mistakes

there are two ways to beat Oregon defensively:

have supreme, NFL level talent (USC 2008, AU 2010, LSU 2011) or play extremely disciplined, smart football (Boise St x2, Ohio State 2009, Cal pretty much every year always plays close)

oregon's offense will become extinct eventually when people figure out how to defend it

First you say:
quote:

have supreme, NFL level talent ... or play extremely disciplined, smart football

then you say
quote:

oregon's offense will become extinct eventually when people figure out how to defend it

But literally any offense can be defeated by a defense that either has supreme NFL level talent or that plays extremely smart, disclipined football. I don't get this "people will figure out how to defend it" theory. People figured out how to defend the I formation 50 years ago, but it's still being run. It's one thing to figure out how to stop someone, it's another thing to actually do it.

In the Chip Kelly era the Ducks are 25-5. Of those five losses, two were in the first game of the year - 2009 to Boise St, 2011 to LSU. Both of those teams had the whole offseason to get ready for the Oregon scheme. Another two losses were in bowl games, to Ohio State and Auburn. Those teams didn't have an offseason to prepare, but they had a good month. During that entire stretch, the only team who has beaten Oregon without having an extended preparation period is 09 Stanford, who won a shootout 51-42.

Cal had a bye week. We lost to BSU, tOSU, Auburn, Stanford and LSU. With the exception of Stanford, BSU, tOSU, Auburn and LSU are a combined (44-1). BSU caught us playing our first game with five new offensive linemen but outside of them, the other 3 were more talented. Stanford was a bad mismatch for that '09 defense and would consider that game the biggest aberration.
