Similar to playing GT. The offense can get going when you only have 3-4 days to prepare, but give someone as good as LSU a month and you're totally fricked

Like the only week I think GT might beat LSU this season is if LSU had them on the schedule for the week after the Bama game

I really don't understand the gimmick offense thing. The game is slowly adjusting to this
what do you mean adjusting to it? you mean teams are getting better at stopping it or more teams are adopting it?

UF went back to a more pro style offense, LSU and Bama will line up and smash you in the mouth in the I formation

As soon as I hear the words "gimmick offense" I stop listening. Where do people get this idea that it's an rule that you have to wait at least ten seconds before snapping the ball?

These are the kinds of people who ten years ago were saying "you'll can't run the ball out of the shotgun, this Northwestern offense is a gimmick that'll never work in the SEC." And probably if they had been alive in 1930 they'd have been complaining that the forward pass was a "gimmick play."

8-5 and 9-4 is rough? lol.

4 of our 9 losses were to UF and Bama who each won NC's...sooo yea with oregon's schedule we prob do have a much MUCH better record

In 2008, LSU's defense had some major difficulties stopping teams.
In 2009, LSU's offense had difficulty scoring.

In 2008, we played:
Washington
Utah State
@ Purdue
Boise State
@ Washington State
@ USC
UCLA
@ Arizona State
@ Cal
Stanford
Arizona
@ Oregon State
Oklahoma State (bowl)

I see around 4-5 losses for LSU right there alone.

Look at Auburn, Northwestern, etc. 50 years from now, it could be the norm.

yep, and not a whole lot of problems scoring...on teams that played some defense

yea and still won 9 games...with solid defense and special teams...against a tough schedule

Who would be the losses? Maybe usc, and boise, but that's it.

No losses. 08 LSU would be unstoppable simply because they play in the almighty SEC. That oregon poster is tripping to think that an SEC team would ever lose an OOC game. The freaking Packers would be a middle of the road team in the almighty SEC.

yeah, you're right. LSU would have been abused by that Pac 10 schedule. You Ducks are a premier program. If only we could play each other on a neutral site sometime to see how our contrasting styles would measure up to each other.

I love how all of our fans want to say talent and defense are how you beat Oregon, yet fail to realize Boise beat Oregon twice. In the next thread over, you will all say Boise has no talent, speed, and a bad defense and couldn't hang in the SEC. They're either legitimite or they're not folks. The beat Oregon just like we did.

Boise dominated Oregon on the line of scrimmage in that game too. Plus they were playing on a blue field which is cheating

Right, my point is that you can't have it both ways. Either beating Oregon doesn't mean much, or it does. And if it does, Boise should get as much credit for it as we do.

I don't think LSU needed time to prepare. I think LSU just has a bad arse defense.

Boise St. Has time to prepare for all their big games as they only play about two teams a year that might be considered legit.

No, they key is being more talented. LSU, Alabama would all be 25-5 or better with Oregon's schedule.

That's a broad false generalization. CFB is about mismatches.

The key is having a defensive front that blows up the play before it develops and doesn't get out of position.

And stop acting like every SEC team destroyed Oregon. Oregon destroyed UT; lost to Auburn by a field goal and got beat by LSU in large part because of costly turnovers on their part of the field giving LSU easy scores. It was 16-13 at halftime before Oregon gave you two TDs on a silver platter.

All this talk reminds me of when LSU beat Oregon State because of missed X-tra points and suddenly a few weeks later - "they whipped that pansy Pac 10 team who doesn't play real football."

Have a good defense and an offense that can drive the ball down the field. Same as beating any other team.

im not sure if LSU wouldve gone 25-5 in that span because we had some mediocre teams during that stretch.

but that record in no way is impressive. they've lost pretty much every tough game they had.

Boise also beat them in Eugene, which I would assume in your opinion would not be cheating.

That's easy to say because they haven't lost against bad teams. In reality, they've won over half of their tough games, but we just don't see that. The reality is that they are much easier to play when you have ample time to prepare, and that shows in the statistics. There is no way Boise should have held them to 9 points. Boise is a smart, well-learned team that had time to prepare.

Chip Kelly was not the head coach in 2008. In the time Kelly has been head coach, LSU has gone 25-6.
