Is the media afraid of the Patriots now? (Chandler Jones)

So we have a guy who was hospitalized for smoking synthetic weed and looks like he will play this weekend without any punishment or give a shite by anyone

It's not actual weed? Does the NFL specifically state anything in the current policies regarding synthetics? If it were actual weed he'd get an automatic 4 games, right?
Something the NFL needs to look at. I'm not a pothead. Just get that out of the way. Seems that you have guys doing potentially fatal synthetic substances to skirt drug policy and pee tests. When if he wanted to travel to a state where it is legal, he could and be safer? IDK where in New England area it is legalized? Something the NFL needs to look at before a guy dies. NCAA too.

Aren't they all marketed as potpourri or others as bath salts (I know thats another level)? Aren't all users of these ingesting or using them in a manner not "intended"? I know nobody is actually bathing in "bath salts" used in head shops or burning potpourri sold there as potpourri. Like someone huffing paint or keyboard cleaner? Its a legal substance, but not legal to use in that manner

It is illegal in some places. But the legality isn't the point. I mean if a player was hospitilized for alcohol the week before a playoff game it would normally be a huiuuuuuge deal.

If it is his first offense, he may be enrolled in the substance abuse program. Josh Gordon got slammed because he has been caught like a billion times.
I think it matters he has no history of being an a-hole or substance abuser. From all accounts, he's a fun guy to be around and the Boston media really likes him.

here is what I find great about the media. They completely decide how people will view a player/team/organization and a lot of viewers fall in line. For example, the Patriots are the team that allows "no bullshite and straightens players out". For gods sake they have had a murderer and now a spice smoking dumbass They are no different than any other team. Relax. The media hammered them on deflategate. But also, you are a blind homer of you don't think they run the angle that "the Pats change players and make them better humans" angle too.

This is different. Manziel going to rehab fricked him. It sent him down a path of addiction and treatment and relapse and disease of addiction. He truly may not be an addict! He may just be partying. We all did it. Somewhat. Gronk has been mentioned. He partys but is a stud. So is left alone. Manziel went to rehab to prove he was "trying to get better" it makes him sympathetic. but when you party like a 23 year old after rehab some lump you in with the same group of drunks that fall off the wagon.
Add to it now with the old "reefer madness" attitude the NFL has toward weed. Its causing guys to use synthetics to skirt rules and drug tests. Might kill you! But the upshot is if it doesn't, you'll still pee clean.

I think it's mainly due to the fact that no one really knows who Chandler Jones is. Football snobs do, but not the general public.
