*sigh* it could have been Dontrelle Willis...

it might be Andrew McCutcheon

my thing about Griffey was that after he went to Cincinnati (yay! biggest free agent of all-time goes to a small market to follow in his dad's footsteps), he got hurt and people just forgot about him

but in the 90s he was must see TV

Trout isn't outgoing enough to gain that interest unfortunately. If McCutchen can win a title or two I think he would become really popular

I've said it before and will again...Griffey is the best I've seen in my lifetime and without the injuries he goes down as the HR king and is in conversation as the GOAT

Look at how much bigger he was than Bonds.

What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?!? He had
30 home runs, over 100 RBIs last year, he's got a rocket for an arm, you don't know what the hell you're doin'!!

This is a stupid thread. He will be a first ballot FOF with 100% certainty unless something comes out in the next year that monumentally tarnishes his image (about a .00000000001% chance that happens). The real question is he going to get more votes than anyone ever. People are debating if he'll be the first unanimous entry, not if he'll get in on his first ballot

He retired in 2010 so he should be eligible for the next ballot

still should be IMO. You factor in his glove, I think even with the injuries, his falling short on the numbers shouldn't hurt his case as much as people have tried to make it. He was consistently arguably the best player in the game for a solid 8-10 years. And at the absolute pinnacle from about 94-98, he was as good as I've ever seen as a total package for a baseball player

He's fat as frick now. His son is a WR for Arizona and Griffey dabbles in photography. They interviewed him at the Fiesta Bowl.

In my little league it was the "cool" thing to be on the Mariners team because of Junior Griffey. There really hasn't been a player like that since that I can tell

Not just that but the number 24 was the hardest number to get. Usually taken by the coaches son.

Griffey's a no-brainer for obvious reasons.

You'd think that, but I'm patiently awaiting goldenbadger's thread asking whether or not Griffey gets in the HOF.
