That or Commanders
100% this.

are these both the 2 most recent rebrands? To go from Redskins and Indians to something as stale and boring as those nicknames is a reflection of today’s divisive woke corporate America. those previous nicknames were awesome throwbacks meant to honor native Americans.

go poll the Seminoles or any American Indian tribe. There’s been many cases where they’ve defended the old team names and brought petitions to bring the names back. Only soft lily white pussies were offended from the get go

Yes, followed closely by the likes of ‘Commanders’ and ‘Red Hawks’…

Back to the Cleveland rebrand...if they felt they absolutely HAD to rebrand...they should have went back to the original Cleveland Spiders. That rebrand could have been very successful. The apparel that was already starting to circulate was generating some legit buzz and had a very unique look.

That would have been a VERY solid rebrand as the Spiders name has history in Cleveland...blending the past name with the current colors, for a solid rebrand....but nope...they went with this instead...

Charlotte Bobcats was pretty terrible BTW.

To me the Bobcats were the worst. Especially because Bob Johnson, the original owner, went with that name because he wanted to name the team after himself. Charlotte franchises collectively have had the worst ownership groups of any town.

The Lakers are pretty terrible and should have renamed themselves once they moved from Minnesota. Same goes for the Jazz.

I’ve always thought it’s funny people make fun of Pelicans when at least it’s a reference to Louisiana.

A lot of sports nicknames are terrible but Pelicans took a bunch of unique heat. Ducks, Magic, Wild, Browns

Logo and colours are as important as the name itself.

I think Commanders, Guardians, and Pelicans have all been very below average rebrands (especially coming at the major league level).

Commanders logo and uniforms are awful. Guardians name is awful, especially given what it replaced. Pelicans colours and uniforms suck balls.

Washington Football Team was pretty damn awesome. Not keeping that was a huge mistake. You don't replace Redskins because it is irreplaceable, you just have a void where it was, and a unique void at that. It was perfect.

Guardians and Commanders are the worst - agree that WFT was a missed opportunity

Utah Jazz never should have stayed when they moved
Bobcats was awful
I don't like the Pelicans, nor the color scheme, but at least it is unique and they've done a good job with a meh idea

Any MLS team that is "Real" "United" or "FC" is fricking stupid and I hate that European copycat shite. Part of the reason why soccer here will never reach full potential. At least most of the original MLS teams had names - most of which now have been reduced to FC or bullshite.

My friend in Cleveland calls them the "'Dians"

It would seem that the "rdians" portion of the name factored into the decision on the name change. At first glance, and especially when players are turned a certain way, the "R" looks like an "N", and the overall script looks a lot like the "Indians" script...at least on the uniforms.

Fits the city well and allows for "WE FLAP THEY LOSE".

Name of the city followed by ‘FC’ is most desirable to me and inoffensive. I hate corny sounding nicknames like ‘Dynamo’

If I'm being honest, the Lakers are a pretty terrible nickname

It wasn't when they were the MINNEAPOLIS Lakers.

The name "Arizona Coyotes", given what a coyote is as it relates to the Mexican Border is probably not the best idea.

There's plenty of 4 legged coyotes in Arizona as well.

Cleveland should have been the Spiders. That merch looks pretty sweet.

Phoenix should have been the Scorpions.

Pelicans name is legit and I have no idea how that can be worse the 85% of the bs out there other than it is newer.

Also the city edition uniforms have been solid. The crescent city basketball is solid. The standard uniforms are ok.

The Arizona Coyotes have one of the best names and overall branding looks in sports. It's perfect. The fact that their AAA team is the Tucson Roadrunners is cherry-on-top perfect.
