First I don't care that they eighty-sixed the former nickname. The last thing I want to do is lampoon or belittle a group of people - that's not my business, but darn, couldn't they have come up with something better? I know it has a local connection, but again I feel like they could've done better.

Logo and colours are as important as the name itself.

I think Commanders, Guardians, and Pelicans have all been very below average rebrands (especially coming at the major league level).

Commanders logo and uniforms are awful. Guardians name is awful, especially given what it replaced. Pelicans colours and uniforms suck balls.

Knickerbockers is clearly the worst we're just used to it.

Saw two guys at the movie theater the other day, one in a Yankees hat and one in a Guardians.

I introduced myself as an Astros fan and then asked "what minor league logo is that?" Just trying to keep our reputation intact

I think it’s fine. At least it’s not an animal or ethnic group.

In the NFL, I don’t like the nicknames Bills, Commanders, Ravens, or Titans.

I always thought the ugliest crayon color was the worst nickname, then realized they’re named after Paul Brown which I think is pretty cool.

Imagine if LSU was the Fighting Purples

If I'm being honest, the Lakers are a pretty terrible nickname. It just so happens that they are one of the most storied sport franchises in all American sports.

especially for a team in LA.

and the other dude was wrong about Pelicans colors, they actually look good and are pretty unique in professional sports in the US.

much better than just wearing red and white like 20% of teams

most names are dumb and we just get used to them.

Would you name you team after a fricking colorful bird like a cardinal or the color of your sox?

Probably not.

I like the local tie in you can see the guardian statues from the stadium. but the logos are a little generic.

As a lifelong Indians fan…YES…the Guardians is quite possibly the worst rebrand ever…zero meaning…named after a bridge…a bridge??? And to add insult to injury, it takes away from the movie Major League. It pisses me off to no end that 20 years from now, there will be an entire segment of the population that thinks the movie is a made up franchise. Salty…if they absolutely HAD to rebrand, they should have went with Tribe or Spiders…both have history with the franchise. Not only that, the Dolans are absolutely butchering one of the great ballparks in America with horrendous renovations. Nothing about the franchise feels the same anymore…
