re: Is Golden State really this stupid?

If I'm Golden State, it's Barnes, Draymond, Lee and a pick or two. If they want more, you tell them good luck elsewhere. Minnesota barely has any leverage and there aren't many buyers.
Teams know Love is out of Minnesota, whether it be this year or next. All they are doing is putting down a down payment that ensures they will be the ones signing him long-term

No commitment from Love that he will stay in Golden State.
Klay Thompson isn't the only piece of the deal, so they may feel throwing him in as well is a bit too much.
Is trading for Love really that big of an upgrade when you lose arguably the 2nd best SG in the league?

Faried/Chandler is better
really? A guy that can only jump and dunk, and a "scorer" who only puts up 13 a game and hasn't played a full season since last decade?
Give me Barnes, who is only 22 and could become an All-Star with more time and Lee, an 18 point scorer and near double-double guy that will give you cap room in two years at worst

You mean other than averaging a double double what has he done? Oh, I don't know.
And if bogut can stay healthy-- a huge if considering the only reason they have bogut on their team is bc the bucks got tired of his injuries derailing their season-- will determine how far g state goes in the playoffs. Not the marginal difference between love and lee

they would be stupid to trade him to the lakers
It would be part of a three way trade that gets you Love. Sounds like a great trade to me.
ah

1. James Harden
2a. Healthy Dwade
2b. Klay Thompson
I forgot about Manu, but he has 1 year left in the league
Brad Beal? Afflalo?
It is the weakest position in the league

Faried was a beast over the last two months of the season (19/10 on 56% shooting). I think you're selling him short.

Barnes, who is only 22 and could become an All-Star with more
Because he's young and was a high draft pick? Austin Rivers had a higher PER this season than Barnes has had in either of his first two.

You are really overrating Barnes, outside of maybe one good playoffs series the guy has been at best average. Lee is useless to the Timberwolves, he will too old by the time they start contending again and the only purpose he will serve is making their lottery pick worse.

They absolutely stunted his growth when they brought in Iggy.

Faried has a very limited ceiling and Chandler is just rotational depth. Lee is very underrated - not nearly as good as Love though - and Barnes or Green would be much better for a rebuilding team. Plus you get another pick. If I am Minnesota, I'd take Lee/Barnes/GS pick all day every day over Faried and Chandler.

You're not going to trade for Kevin Love because of Klay Thompson?
You don't turn down the opportunity to acquire Kevin Love because of Klay Thompson and a 31 year old David Lee. That's just ridiculous.

Yes. When they fired Jackson.

Golden State is playing this correctly right now. They don't have to give their best offer yet. They can probably wait until draft night.

You do if all of sudden Love decides he wants to bail during free agency.

giving up him and Lee plus a pick is dumb

Well, you don't make the deal unless Love agrees to a new contract beforehand.

Remember when the LeBron Cavs refused to part with JJ Hickson in a deal for Amare Stoudemire? That was fun.
