Really? You're not going to trade for Kevin Love because of Klay Thompson? It makes no sense to me, besides in a year he will be overpaid making 12-15 million a year. I for one am glad they are being this idiotic because a Curry + Love combo makes them a legit contender IMO.

Love would not be enough to put them over.

Why trade Thompson if you don't get a commitment from love that he'll stay?

I thought it was Thompson and Lee. Did that change?

They could also be playing hard to get to drive down the price.

What exactly has Love proven to this point that makes him a must get other than stats?

You mean other than averaging a double double what has he done? Oh, I don't know.

If I were Golden State, I'd offer Lee, one other non-starter, and a pick. Love is leaving Minnesota within a year anyways so it's not like Minnesota has some huge leverage.

Depending on who the Wolves take out of Barnes-Iggy-Green, the Warriors could trot out a line up of-

Curry
Thompson
Barnes/Iggy
Love
Bogut

That'd win 60-65 games in the East.

Dantley was a better player than Aguirre, but Aguirre was a better fit for the 1989 Pistons. If they didn’t make that deal, they wouldn’t have won the championship. It was a people trade, not a basketball trade. And that’s what Isiah learned while following those Lakers and Celtics teams around: it wasn’t about basketball. Those teams were loaded with talented players, yes, but that’s not the only reason they won. They won because they liked each other, knew their roles, ignored statistics, and valued winning over everything else.

Numbers help, but only to a certain degree. You still have to watch the games. The fans don’t get it. Actually, it goes deeper than that—I’m not sure who gets it. We measure players by numbers, only the playoffs roll around and teams that play together, kill themselves defensively, sacrifice personal success and ignore statistics invariably win the title. We have trouble processing the ‘teamwork over talent’ thing. But how do you keep stats for ‘best chemistry’ and ‘most unselfish’ or even ‘most tangible and consistent effect on a group of teammates’? It’s impossible. That’s why we struggle to comprehend professional basketball.

Yeah but that is a shitty offer and will not get it done. You have to give Minnesota a young player to help start their rebuild. A 31 year old and a bad pick isn't what they want. Someone else will have a better offer than that.

Denver's Faried/Chandler/Afflalo offer was already better than Thompson/Lee. Now it would blow it away.

Lee is a double-double guy in his own right and you need some vets on the team even if you are going through a rebuild. I also said they can take another player out of Iggy/Barnes/Green. Iggy would probably be out, but Barnes and Green can be good pieces for a rebuilding team.

It would be part of a three way trade that gets you Love. Sounds like a great trade to me.

Boston Herald reported that the Nuggets offered to acquire him and send him off as part of the deal. I doubt that they would make that offer without already having something arranged in the event that Minnesota accepted.

Regardless, Faried/Chandler is better than Lee/filler/late pick.
