Lsu is a lock. Return 18 starters and they actually have a good DC now

They will probably lose Lawson, Mackenzie, and Kearse from that great defense, along with a couple other seniors. The offense should be deadly though. I do think that Gallman, a RS soph, should declare for the draft. That could hurt them a little bit.

Ohio State was a bigger lock this year.

At this time last year I agree, but OSU had an offseason filled with QB drama, and a QB competition all Spring and ended up with a 2 QB system for multiple games.

Watson gets almost his whole offense back and there won't be any QB issues.

I think I like Clemson over OSU if comparing the situations. ACC also easier than B1G.

Didn't we say the same thing about OSU? Yet where were they?

At FSU will be tough. FSU will have an experienced OL, solid and confident QB, talent out the arse at WR, and an unreal RB...with a bruiser as his backup. Their secondary should be scary, talent all over the place. If they gel even more under Kelly, FSU will be a nightmare.

Both teams might be playoff worthy.

Watson gives them as good of an opportunity as any team out there. Plus Watson will get Mike Williams back, who was a preseason all American wide receiver coming into 2016 plus Deon Cain if he can pass his drug tests. They also get back their starting RB from last year who redshirted this year after having knee surgery after an injury in Nov of last year. Defensively, this will lose some studs, but offensively, they will be loaded. And with the best QB in the country, they will have a chance.

But as others have said, OSU shows you nothing is guaranteed.

Clemson does open on the road with Auburn and then road game at FSU.

Are you kidding? Miami is going to own the ACC now that Mark Richt is coaching the Hurricanes. Just ask any Canes fan, Al Golden was holding them back.

Nearly everyone said the same exact thing about OSU last year.

The difference being that Watson can flat out make plays

OSU had decent but not great QB talent

ETA: And Clemson is still hungry because they didn't win it all. Big difference IMO

I agree. BAMA's front 7 was arguably the greatest front 7 of ALL TIME. Watson led clemson offense tallied over 500 yards of TO and 40 points.

They may not win it all next year, but Watson gives the the opportunity to beat everyone on their schedule. He will be the best player on the field (if healthy) in every single game they play next season.

Wasn't Ohio State a lock?

They would have to go completely undefeated yet again and with their strength of schedule I seriously doubt that will happen. A loss to any team on that schedule will set them back too far.

I'm willing to bet they lose at least two games next year, not including a playoff game. They should have lost multiple games this year! Yea, they played the best game of the season against Bama but that doesn't happen week in and week out because at the end of the day the are still Clemson.

And Clemson will always Clemson. Book it!

FIFY

I have Clemson as my preseason 1 and it isn't close. I would have taken OSU's situation last year over Clemson's now going into the offseasons of each year because OSU had 2 guys who were studs, while Clemson only has 1. Jones sucked this year but he was the next big thing in the offseason, causing problems for Meyer. However, a day after the title game, everything for OSU was gravyboats

Not a lock. FSU should be pretty loaded.

They didn't "Clemson" this year. Anytime they lose is not "Clemsoning." Losing to Bama in the title game is certainly not "Clemsoning." "Clemsoning" is when they lose to a team they were heavily favored against or have their hopes destroyed by getting blown out in a big game (the anal fisting they took from FSU in primetime a few years ago).

Oh and has anyone said that OSU was a lock last year yet?

Clemson also has the number 1 RB recruit in the nation coming next year that can sit and learn under Gallman. He'll be a great plug in though.

And Mike Williams will be back from that neck injury.

Clemson is going to have the best offense in the nation next year by far. It's really not even close.
