I just don't think Bill Simmons/The Ringer connects with the younger audience like he wants. He really comes off as trying too hard most of the time and his underlings just aren't funny. He wants so badly to be cool, I just don't see how anyone would ever think that about him.

He thinks the loudest minority = the majority

Most people in the age group don't really give a shite. But he thinks the one raging twitter wars over petty shite are The views of every 18-30 year old person these days

That is what made the trump thing so shocking to most people. It shattered that view point and made the twitter world feel insequential as it actually was

It is amazing how huge they have gotten.

itunes had them as a top 12 podcasts of 2016......

to answer to OP, Simmons had something better with Grantland but the Ringer is glorified self-serious buzzfeed.

Barstool has never tried to be more than what it is. It's shitty blog that is great for a laugh and some tits. PMT has made me a much bigger fan since the Northeastern focus never really applied to me plus I have never been a fan of KFC. So before PMT, i consumed barstool for the T&A and the fight videos.

PFT's writing is a welcome addition.

I never cared for Simmons

The actual interviews on PMT are great if you can stomach big kat and PFT's schtick prior to the interview. I always fast forward as they annoy me as try hards

Portnoy is goat though

Huh.

I'll often skip over the interviews, especially if its some random hockey player or something.

Guys are hilarious man.

I don't do it often, but I often have very limited time, so if its a hockey player that I don't even know I may not listen. And then on Thursday or something when I've got time I'll go back and listen to it, sometimes.

I think the hardest I have laughed at PMT was last week at a random joke. It was during their Mike Greenburg's dumb rules segment. They suggested that if a greased up Andy Reid can climb the goal post naked, the Chiefs win the Super Bowl. I had to pause it because I couldn't stop laughing. It was just so random.

I find their interactions with the people they interview funny

Them as the duo is stale to me, it's been the same thing for awhile. More swing and misses than hits
