Is it gave a big middle finger to the owner who in 2011 stood by his new collective bargaining agreement when he was complaining about the Chris Paul to Lakers trade which would have worked out very well for the Pelicans had that happened. I have since then always wanted to see Cuban fail as "for basketball reasons" has hurt the Lakers in transitioning from the Kobe/Gasol Lakers to what should have been the Paul/Howard Lakers.

I really don't pay attention to off season NBA stuff. Why exactly was the Paul going to the Lakers thing shot down by the NBA? Legit reasons, not conspiracy theories.

I'd say it did.

To sum it up... GM agreed to a deal but the owner shut it down because it was a shite deal.
A shitty basketball deal.

Because it was a bad trade. It would have given the Hornets a bunch of mediocre players on big, long contracts. Guaranteeing mediocrity for the foreseeable future would reduce the attractiveness of the franchise and could hurt the sale value. As such, the owner of the Hornets told the GM no and sent him back to the drawing board.

Who did the Pelicans get that would have been better than the trade that was cancelled?

Anthony Davis was always going to be a Pelican to help sell the team.

Pre-injury Gordon was better than any player in that cornucopia of horseshite. Furthermore, flexibility is better than having your hands tied.

First of all, there's more to it than just a player's quality of play. These players weren't coming with a blank slate. Contracts play a giant role too. The whole thing was bullshite.

I think the Knicks 2012 1st rounder and Goran Dragic would be better than Gordan and Rivers

The Hornets would have been a ~32-35 win team that year and may have snuck in to the 8 seed.

The Knicks pick ended up being Royce White. I think I'd rather Austin Rivers.

The Hornets would've drafted Jared Sullinger and Jae Crowder in an absolute best case scenario but more likely would've gotten Royce White and Tyler Zeller/Fab Melo

No Anthony Davis.
