Freshman from Iowa City West hits walk off, 3 run bomb to get into the state title game.

Hit it OUT of Principal Park in Des Moines (home of the AAA Iowa Cubs).

Absolutely crushed.

Nice hit but I'm not impressed with his low UZR and unmaintainabke BABIP. What's his OPS+?

Bomb, no doubt.

Celebration was extremely weak. They were trying to pull of the ole "take his jersey off" but failed. After that, nobody really knew what to do. Awkward.

Meh, I hit a walk off home run to win my high school alumni game. It was off a pitching machine but still...

Iowa does it right with high school baseball in the North. I wish the other Northern states would start the season later and play well into summer instead of ending the season in early June though the later season may conflict with American Legion ball .

I loved playing in the summer as opposed to spring for HS ball. I was still able to play about 15 spring games before the season started and about 25 legion games after the season ended.

I hit a walk off double in HS to win a regular season game. It was awesome. Can't imagine how great that feels for that kid. What a bomb!

When do these kids graduate? Do they just play baseball for 2 months after school is out?

I think I actually prefer that sound over "PING!"

Notice the pitcher did the classic little jump off the ground, turn around, and pray when he heard the sound off the bat.

I was definitely not thinking about baseball in late July the summer before going to college.

I grew up in Iowa. Loved playing ball all summer long with no classes to worry about. Summer is when the game is supposed to be played.

"The highlight of my career? In '67 with St. Louis, I walked with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run in an intersquad game in spring training." - Bob Ueker
