Gfy
Do you know who the corniest guy on sports TV is? It's Ray Lewis. Do you sit there and listen to him over dramatize every single meaningless angle of football, and not see the corny nature of it? Probably not.

frick those Thursday night games. I only watch them when the Saints are playing. I never bet on them. Until the NFL gives teams a bye the week before, I ain't interested

This isn't Augusta National, who I could see getting salty about certain personalities and banning them. Tirico is a pro. What's the problem?

Michael's is 70+ yrs old and hates travelling now more than ever. He has all but said he doesn't want to do Thursday night. Its a bad product and Michaels doesn't want to call shitty games, plus he has basically 1 off day now.
I don't think it is the travel as much as it is the preparation. I know that 99% of America thinks these announcers just show up on game day, roll in, and roll out. It isn't that easy. I have seen interviews with Al where he said preparing for ONE game is an all week venture. Being the professional that he is, he probably feels like being asked to prepare for two games in one week will make both broadcasts suffer.

Unlike a lot of lazy people getting paid to NOT work is not what the productive enjoy. Guys like Mike love calling games. Being in the trenches. He doesn't want to just collect w check from NBC.

Which means there's a possibility Tirico calls 0 NFL games this season. Goes to show you the grass isn't always greener
NBC is just being a big SJW in trying to decrease the exposure of a white man b/c of his privilege
it's not that complicated

I've heard numerous Michaels interviews the last few years and he "jokingly" talks about how he looks at the schedule to see how many Southern California and Pacific time zone games he has. Now add yet another game and and he's traveling 4-5 days a week now… that would bother anyone let alone a guy in Al's position and age who hasn't had to call shitty games on 30 yrs.
I do also agree with you on the workload though, guys that good at their job do hellatious research and prep for these games.
PS- Tirico claims he is white, from an Italian family in Queens. That is not a joke.

Phil Simms is the commentator version of being punched in the dick by The Mountain

More like Va. Tech vs anyone in the ACC. I swear tech plays more on thursday night than anyone

Doesn't the ACC play a lot of Thursday games?

Since CBS won't have the Super Bowl for another 3 years, I can watch without having to mute the sound. I can't think of anyone I'd rather listen to less than Nantz and Simms.

Simms I think is legitimately retarded… I don't know if it's the concussions or sitting next to Mike Caray… but he's on Forrest Gump's level now.

Keith Jarrett (born May 8, 1945) is an American pianist and composer who performs both jazz and classical music.
Jarrett started his career with Art Blakey, moving on to play with Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis. Since the early 1970s he has enjoyed a great deal of success as a group leader and a solo performer in jazz, jazz fusion, and classical music. His improvisations draw from the traditions of jazz and other genres, especially Western classical music, gospel, blues, and ethnic folk music.
quote:
Keith Jarrett was born on May 8, 1945, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to a mother of Hungarian descent and a father of either French or Scots-Irish descent.
quote:
Jarrett has acknowledged that audiences, and even fellow musicians, have at times been convinced he is African-American, due to his appearance. He relates an incident when African-American jazz musician Ornette Coleman approached him backstage, and said something like, "Man, you've got to be black. You just have to be black," to which Jarrett replied, "I know. I know. I'm working on it."

There are no other analysts as vanilla and boring as he is. He never has an opinion on anything, is the ultimate arse kisser, and overstates the obvious. I pray every week that my CBS affialiate doesn't show their game.
