makes sense. But throwing at a helmet wouldn't because of the ball deflecting.

Yeah it would be pretty damn risky with a possible INT.

It would depend on the situation.

If you couldn't take a sack and were stuck late in the game I suppose it would be worth the risk.

Throw at the upper arms/shoulders as well if they have their hands raised.

Yes & no, what you described is intentional grounding.

That said, on a screen pass, the RB was knocked to the ground, & Va Tech QB just drilled the DLineman in the nuts.
