Chicken/egg.

Also, it could be that he's the one of the top backs in the league, on a team that's going to it's second straight SB. Crazy that they want face time with him.

I'm not the biggest fan of the NFL's big wigs, and yeah, reporters can be kind of scummy, but at the same time, you can't relax your policy for just one guy and not expect total anarchy with a bunch of other players. The NFL and it's fans is the reason these guys get paid as much as they do. If my boss told me that along with my salary, I'd be required to speak to the media every once in a while, it's my choice whether to work there or not.

I can't understand the lack of respect for what he's doing. He doesn't want to speak to the media for whatever reason, (none of our business), and chooses not to conform. I personally despise the idea that everyone should simply "do what they're told".

People need to stop pretending the NFL is football, and exists for reasons other than entertainment. He's a paid member of the league, and participation has rules. This isn't journalism, or art, or pure sport. He's a modern day court jester who exists to entertain us.

He should "do what he is told" because he's precisely paid to do that. Hence, I have no respect for his bullshite self-righteousness.

Funny. Would be funnier if this was the only time he's done it.

I agree with the no talent hack bit but, in fairness to them, if they took the time to cultivate a real relationship with Marshawn or any other player to get a "real" article, how interesting would most people find it? Would it be worth the extra effort, as opposed to phoning it in?

Beyond the contrived weekly skit, most interest in Marshawn Lynch begins and ends when the football touches his hands. Very few athletes are in that larger than life Jordan mode where people actually wonder "I wonder what this dude does on a Wednesday in the off season?"

And by telling them "I'm just here so I won't get fined" for every question he is doing that.

He is contractually obligated to be available to the media various times throughout the week. He does that.

He is clearly not in violation of his contract, or he would have been fined by now.

The NFL has not relaxed their policy for him. He has been fined for skipping out.

Like I said, he's dealing with it. You don't like how he's dealing with it.

And he has openly accepted the consequences for breaking the "rules".
And his "antics" are probably more entertaining than the cliche elsewhere.

For now. I don't find anything admirable in doing the bare minimum that your employer asks you to do, though, especially when you're purposefully obstructing your employer's goal. Apparently some think that's courageous or something.

Exactly, I'm really not sure why people care about this so much.

He's fufilling his obligation, no one cares if you like the manner in which he's doing it.

If he just gave shitty, boring answers, the media would realize he's a bad quote and stop talking to him.

As long as Lynch does what is required of him by his contract I am okay with it. If his employers, the Seattle Seahawks, are dissatisfied with his performance, then they can exercise their rights to terminate his contract.

Ding Ding Ding.

Also, you ever thought that maybe he wants to be the butt of jokes on his own terms. He controls the message this way. Also, I think if he were to speak people would constantly make remarks on how butchers the English language, sounds like a thug etc etc. Would you rather be Skrong and have a joke made about you, or be like Marshawn, and the joke be of your creation.

It's not a question. The NFL wants him to participate and engage with the media at required times. He, for whatever reason, thinks it's dumb and he shouldn't have to. So he does this, and for now gets away with it.

That's fine, he's getting by and/or accepting the consequences. It's still a childish and narcissistic way to go about your life.

I'm sure he thinks this deeply
