Let me start this off by saying that I love Zeke. And I think that we got the best two players in the draft, so far in their careers. But, would the Cowboys be where the Falcons are right now had they let Dez go instead of DeMarco?

With today's NFL, you can make it with not necessarily world beaters at WR, because of the way most offenses are. But when you have a phenomenal running back with a phenomenal line, you can really really do some damage.

The reason I say this is, if they had kept DeMarco, they probably take a defensive guy with our first pick in the draft in 2015-2016. Now, getting Dak would still take some luck. But I think the defense would be better off had the Cowboys let Dez go and not DeMarco.

The Cowboys problem isn't their running game

Yeah, there was nothing phenomenal about Zeke whatsoever.

Cowboys have both of those things.

Cowboys couldn't stop Rodgers last week. They knew he was going to throw every single snap and couldn't do anything about it.

Offense didn't lose that game for them. They literally took the lead with only minutes remaining.

It's the "prevent" defense mentality. I will never understand why you will sacrifice a decent pass rush for a few more DBs that you just place in zone deep.

I would take Zeke over Murray, tbh.

Elliot is a significantly better back namely because he doesn't leave yards on the field like Murray did because of his lack of speed. Mirray didn't break those 50+ yard TD runs and always got caught from behind.

Elliot also averaged about the same YPC as 2014 Murray despite defense putting 8 in the box most snaps with a rookie QB under center. Murray faced 6 and 7 man boxes in 2014.

Long term it was the right call. Murray is good, but there's only three backs in the league right now worth the kind of money he wanted.

Dallas doesn't really have any major "problems", they got beat in a toss up game by an amazing throw and questionable officiating.

Their defense did better against GB than NY did and were above average all year. Add a couple pieces to that and they'll enter 2017 as the most talented team in the NFC.

So would they be better with a stud RB or a stud RB and a stud WR

Dez balled out in the playoff game too so it's not like it would have made a difference in that game alone either

Dallas' defense did a better job against Rodgers in the second half than any defense since early November. They sacked him twice, got a pick and held him to about 60% completions and held the offense to 13 points, 7 in the first 28 minutes of the half.

In hindsight coming out and shitting the bed early was what fricked them. They significantly outplayed GB for the final three quarters, outscoring them 28-13 and doubling their yardage over the final 40 minutes or so of game time.

Even with that start, it took some huge no calls on the Packers OL and one of the greatest throws I've ever seen to beat them. The defense did as good as any defense had against Rodgers in months.

I think Dallas is better with Zeke, Bryant and their current defense than Murray, no Bryant and a rookie defender. The Cowboys receiving group would be unimpressive without Bryant.

Remember in Dallas' last three meaningful games Dez had 300 yards and four touchdowns. I expect him to be very effective next year if healthy, he and Dak have found a rhythm

OP is fricking nuts. I don't even know where to start.

1. Zeke > Murray straight up
2. 21 y/o Zeke on a rookie deal >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>28 y/o Demarco Murray with that contract Philly offered him
3. Choosing Murray over Bryant would've been insanely idiotic.

Are you really a Cowboys fan? Did you watch them at all this year? Zeke had like 300+ more yards than anyone else in the league.

Agree with all of this. IMO, healthy Dez is still a top 5 talent at WR in this league. You don't let a guy like that walk so you can hang onto a 27 year old injury prone RB who only stayed healthy in Dallas during his contract year.

Despite how this year ended, Dallas has an insanely good young core on offense and they will be able to draft almost exclusively defensive guys in the draft this year.
