Other than filling out a bracket for $5 at work I don't gamble on college basketball. All to often a "shocking upset" happens and I like having money to much to really risk it on an 18 year old kid.

+1. I wonder what the figures are on the numbers of people who take any time off from their job during the first 2 days of the tourney.

When I was in elementary and jr high school I'd always fake sick every year on the first Thursday and Friday to stay home and watch the madness on cbs.

when i was in elementary school i had alpha on thursdays all day and we did nothing but watch ncaa tourny that was back when all the games were on CBS and you had to hope the would cut into a good game lol.

My 5th grade year my teacher just so happened to be Dion Crosses mother who played for Standford so absolutely nothing got done those 2 days all we did was watch basketball.

in jr high i had to tough it out utnil 2:45 then we could go to basketball practice and watch the games in gym as basketball season was over and we had nothing else to do

in high school i had a car and just said frick it and wouldn't show up for 2 days , i'd get some skank that was 18 to rent a hotel room and me and my friends would just pile in and watch basketball all day then go home / to work at 4pm

I never gamble on March Madness. Just love it because of the unpredictable nature of the game. Watching small schools go on a run into the Sweet 16 (and beyond) is one of the cooler things in college sports.

I'm running a different pool from the traditional bracket. Similar to the super bowl squares game, every person pays in $10 for each square they want. Every single game has a winner. You take in $1,000, and the payout per game escalates. $5 per first round game and you have $160. Double the per game amount each round, and you're left with $200 for the championship game. Obviously you can win more than once. I just hated wasting time filling out a bracket and seeing it gone after the first two rounds. Most of them are set up so you pretty much have to nail 3/4 of your final four and get the championship game right to win it.

How much does the country collectively care about the NHL playoffs? About that much.

NHL is the fourth most popular professional sport. But I'll be damned if there's a more fun playoff to watch than hockey.
