i will say that it will give lebron a legitimate "gotcha" point. he'll take a so-so team and not only win a title, but beat a historically good team (with home court advantage). that is something jordan never did (he won titles with the most talented team every time he won a title)

and is that because he's the most talented player or are you saying his roster was more loaded than the 91 Lakers,92 Blazers,93 Suns, 96 Sonics 97-98 Jazz

I'm gonna go out on a limb and says it's because the team was loaded. I know it's brought up all the time, but I don't think people pay any attention to it. 55 games. They won 55 games without him, swept the Cavs, and took the Knicks to game 7.

Now add Michael GOAT Jordan to that team. Dammit they're gonna win everything. Put Lebron on a similar team and they're winning everything as well.

absolutely.

91 Lakers had big names, but they were not the same team they were in the decade previous.

Pippen was also the 3rd or 4th best player in the NBA throughout this run as well.

The second 3 peat featured the most talented team ever.

Take Jordan off those teams and they still are title contenders. Not locks, but certainly in the upper echelon of talent in the league. I don't see how that is debatable.

The 91 Lakers had an old Magic...that's it. Worthy was injured for the finals and Kareem had already retired.

2nd in MVP voting once he had the team to himself in 94.

Pippen is criminally underrated on this board.

And the year before he wasn't top 20 in Win Shares or PER. He was a top 20 player, but top 3-4 is silly outside of that one year ('93-94). He certainly wasn't better/more valuable than Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq, Malone, Barkley and those guys. Penny and Hill at their best were better.

ETA -- There's no doubt that Wade >>> Pippen.

Well not anymore. You just alleged he was the 4th or 5th best player in the league in 1991, which is just goddamn nonsense. on every conceivable level.

Pippen is criminally overrated by the LeBron fanboys and few Kobe fanboys who still claim he's the GOAT. Either 17 year olds or people with terrible memories.

Without MJ they were a 55 win team that almost made the conference finals. That is freaking legit

Pippen criminally overrated? Get the frick out. Dude led the Bulls to 55 wins, and his old arse led the Blazers to 59 wins. You just tipped your hand and showed your arse with that comment. Pippen is a top player of all time

How much Coke did Pippen drink during halfimes in that 1993-94 season?
