Like that pitcher on Moneyball, Ricardo Rincon.

Damn, that's giving up a ton. Been reading and many people think he could be similar to Nolan Ryan.

UGH. I would much rather see Dwayne Wise out there over Ichiro.

I guess this means no Brett Garder for the rest of year. Maybe Swish's injury is worse than execpected.

Ichiro will probably do a hell of a job for the Yankees. He's just having a bad year. Don't forget last year on this board Jeter was 100% done, career over.

He had a .645 OPS last year and a .641 OPS so far this year. Still a good defensive player, but he has been one of the worst offensive players in baseball for a year and a half. He is a name only. If he wasn't Ichiro he wouldnt be in the majors.

Hopefully a change of scenery will do him well.

they just showed his avg this season against the AL east and he's batting over .300 against em all

???

Boston - 7/25 .280 BA .549 OPS
Balt - 0/11 .083 OPS
NYY - 2/13 .154 BA .385 OPS
TB - 10/31 .323 BA .821 OPS
Tor - 2/13 .154 BA .308 OPS

Literally garbage against every team besides TB.

Nooo! Trading my team's most recognizable player to my least favorite team. Ichiro has nothing left but still. I can't find it in myself to root for the Yankees even if it means him getting a title.

Ichiro is TERRIBLE this year

Last year too I think.

This board has been saying that since 08.

I guess he really does have to shave. His little beard is part of who he is though.

I was thinking the same thing. How does he not know Engrish by now?

Then he sits there stonefaced as his translator reads back what he just rambled off in Japanese.

Google gave me that answer. Apparently he does speak English fine and speaks English in the clubhouse/on the field but still prefers to speak Japanese publicly.

So Ichiro wants a different stimulation? Interesting. This translator could really say anything and we'd all go for it.
