Say the NFL scrapped the salary cap , how much money would elite quarterbacks get in AAV? Could a guy like Rodgers command $40 million per year or more?

Yeah, probably. Would have to be the elite of the elite QBs. Shoot, if there was no salary cap in the NBA, I could see the Lakers or the Knicks offering Anthony Davis or KAT a 10 year, $500 million contract.

As prolific as he was how many times did Dan Marino win a Super Bowl? And on the flip side Joe Flacco won a Super Bowl because of one historic run but the rest of his career has been bleh. The 2 sports where the star absolutely makes the show are soccer and basketball.

Carson Palmer is making $24M this year with a salary cap and you don't think the top guys could get $40M without a salary cap?

QB has an effect on the success of his team more than any other position in any other sport so i'd guess that Tom Brady/Aaron Rodgers would be the highest paid players in professional sports if no salary cap.

People underestimate the cheapness of NFL owners. If the NFL ever gets to the point where they get rid of the salary cap, the owners will collude to avoid paying players colossal amounts of money. You'll never see a NFL player get paid $30+ million annually in guaranteed money like MLB and NBA players do.

Players are damn near making $30 million now with a salary cap. It's laughable to think that Aaron Rodgers' or Derek Carr's (assuming he wins MVP or the super bowl once) next contract won't approach $30 million in a few seasons.

Soccer is a team sport , how many big wins have Zlatans teams won? Basketball is much more individual driven than any other team sport

Zlatan "ain't no" Christiano Ronaldo or Messi. But since you asked, PSG: 2012–13, 2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16. All because of him.

Ligue 1 is a joke, they won cause they had the best team by a mile which they bought with their Quatari money. Basketball is the only sport where one star can win you a game by himself. If Zlatan had so much impact why couldn't they win in champions league ?

Okay, so I answered your question and then you changed the parameters. Answer, they ran into the Ronaldo and Messi buzzsaw. My point is; the start soccer player has more impact on the game than the star QB. That is a fact.

...because the popularity of the NFL and the resulting revenue is in large part due to the success of the salary cap and the level playing field that has resulted.

They're still one of only 22 players. NBA stars would undoubtedly be paid the most with no salary cap.
