It would be difficult to get a "name" coach until after the sanctions are over. The bowl ban ends after this season, but the dearth of scholarships is brutal.

Any coach coming in will have to accept that he's fighting with one hand tied behind his back. You'll take a lot of lumps that way.

It would have to be the second coming of Harbaugh.

In fact, if he washes out of the NFL, I'd love to have him at SC. That's a football coach, right there.

No reason to get rid of Kiffin. You expect the man to go undefeated with all these sanctions. He's going to recruit his arse off when given the chance.

He's got to win this season, because it's very unlikely he will in the next three.

If he doesn't, why not give an up and coming coach who wants to make a name for himself an opportunity at USC?

I am not going to hang Kiffin out to dry after just one (admittedly very bad) loss, but he's going to have to get 9 wins this season at a minimum, or I'm going to recommend that he be fired.

Which probably doesn't mean much.

He has his moments. He had a pretty average UT team about to upset Bama (the Mt. Cody blocked winning FG game). But he is inconsistent, and the players don't look like they're all on the same page.

He has done some good work on Barkley's mechanics, but Barkley made some piss poor decisions last night, and a well coached QB would not, in my opinion, have made those decisions.

I think he's a great recruiter, a good position coach, and a so/so offensive coordinator. As a head coach, he's frankly pretty average so far.

I think Kiffin deserves a huge raise and a long term extension to keep him at SC for a long time!

I wouldn't get rid of him right now. USC is going to suck for the next few years no matter who the coach is. Might as well let Kiffin hang around since he recruits his arse off. He's USC's best shot at getting the best players possible while they go through this down period.

No idea what's wrong at USC. The players look like they don't care. Kiffin needs to figure that out quickly.

some fellow vol fans here think Kiffin will win national championships at USC. even more than Nick Saban. (I'm not making this up btw)

it's disgusting that he has gotten three big time jobs in a row for doing nothing. he recruited well because he still had some snake oil left to sell. but the jury/on the field results are coming in now. he won't have anything left to sell to recruits.

He will get at the very least up to the 2012 season to show if he's any good. I for one am done with him but its foolish to think a great coach would want to walk into this situation. We're stuck with him for now. I think SC has a new coach 2013

+1

No emotion; players look listless; it's not fun watching these Trojans.

Carroll was full of boundless energy and the players were having fun.

USC has allowed the NCAA to take the joy out of college football.

The coaching staff isn't right for college football.

I find myself in the awkward position of playing Kiffin's Advocate here, but the players didn't execute. Kiffin didn't fumble after driving the field, or look to see if there wasn't a Burfict in the way of his checkdown prior to gifting him an INT.

He called plays that moved the ball up and down the field, and he never personally turned the ball over. That's on the players.

At any rate, if you're honest with yourselves Trojan fans, you probably had that ASU game down as "one we might well lose" before the season started (Oregon and Stanford are likely the others.)

The bad thing about the ASU game was that it was obvious we should have and could have beaten them, and just didn't.

Give ASU credit, they outplayed us.

He's here until they come off of sanctions. Once they are clean again they will look to move.
