VT and Clemson just makes sense in Charlotte, great game and atmosphere last meet up

But no we have to cater to the one percent, while the ACC offices remain in Greensboro

Sigh

Whatever your political beliefs are this is just dumb. Its not like everyone is withdrawing from the state

This game shouldn't have been moved and I'll stand by that

The feeling of the 1% aside

The entire thing is a disaster. Was looking forward to another game here in Charlotte, but once it was moved, decided it wasn't worth the quick turnaround to get back to the office on Monday with vacation coming a week later.

Yep. Clemson fan base will still show out of course.

But Charlotte is the perfect location for these two schools to play. Sad

As a Hokie I am disappointed, after years of crappy games in Jax and Tampa (it did not help that BC was playing or WF) we finally found a home with good attendance and an ACC city.

I know a lot of Hokie fans are torn because upsetting Clemson is a big task, and most bowl projections have us coming back to Orlando in late December so which do you choose.

Well, actually...

The House Bill 2 law was only in reference to government/public-funded facilities. Target can (and does) allow transgender citizens to use the restroom of their choice. That was never affected by HB2 or the Charlotte non-discrimination ordinance.

But the conference wanted it moved. So it should have been moved.

I'm glad I don't care what the person next to me in the bathroom's junk looks like.

The ACCCG is a beautiful sight when played in Charlotte (when the right teams make it). I ran into a Hokie fan yesterday here in Winston-Salem and we started talking about how much it sucked that the game was moved to Orlando. Charlotte would've been a packed house with tons of Hokies. Orlando maybe half full and not many Hokies.

Actually, they are. Here's the list of people and companies who've boycotted that state since the law was passed.

Ringo Starr

Bryan Adams

Deutsche Bank

PayPal

Bruce Springsteen

Michael Moore

xHamster

Joel McHale

General Electric

the Dow Chemical Company

Pepsi

Hyatt

Hewlett Packard

Choice Hotels International

Whole Foods

Levis Strauss & Co.

Lionsgate

Stephen Strauss (Composer of Wicked)

NBA

Cirque du Soleil

Pearl Jam

Boston

Maroon 5

Itzhak Perlman

NCAA (Moved NCAA Tournament games from North Carolina)

And I'm sure there are a lot more that I haven't mentioned. It's a terrible law.

Still can't believe they will actually make Duke and UNC leave the state for the first two rounds.

However, with Orlando far less a convenient location for Clemson and Virginia Tech fans, ticket prices plummeted on the secondhand market. About a hundred of Clemson’s allotment of tickets went unsold, according to a school spokesperson, and those tickets were distributed to families in the area.

At kickoff Saturday night, the lower bowl of 70,000-seat Camping World Stadium was mostly full, with fans in Clemson orange holding a bit of a numbers edge over Virginia Tech maroon. But the upper decks were sparsely populated, and official attendance was announced as 50,628, the lowest total in the ACC Championship's 12-game history.

Multiple reports indicated the league was offering free admission to Disney employees; a league spokesperson disputed the volume that was being reported (“tens of thousands,” according to one account) but acknowledged the ACC was giving out free tickets to Orlando business partners.

The ACC made its decision to lift the game from Charlotte a couple days after the NCAA pulled all of its championship events from North Carolina in response to HB2, which figures to be tied up in state legislation for months.

FYI North Carolina voters have booted their Governor in the last election who supported the legislation. We expect this issue to turn around in the next year.
