Not a bad idea if you had a 16-32 team playoff at the end of the season and no bowls. You could have about 8 bowl games tops for Labor Day weekend with all thier parades and stuff.

Remove roster restrictions from bowl games. Red shirts, transfers, etc. let them play.

Do they have this in place at the moment? I was under the impression the bowl games weren't nearly as restrictive as away games in conference, for example.

We need to get rid of pre season polls first and foremost. Worst thing for college football.

I can get behind the red shirt suggestion, but transfers is taking it a little too far. I like the sitting out a year rule on transfers.

Yes, you heard it here first. Play the games on Labor Day weekend. Then you solve all the issues with the current system (fan apathy, players avoiding injury, etc).

Bowls would get to pick whoever they want to participate.

Would make a lot of these games less special, if there were tons more...more than likely.

Less special meaningful matchups to kickoff the season is wwwaaayyy better than special meaningless bowl games at the end of the season.

We are kind of already getting a beginning of season bowl setup with all the neutral site games.

It's all about the playoff committee now. If they show favor to teams who schedule tough early-season matchups, you will absolutely see more of these neutral site games.

How about cutting the bowl games back to 15 so the matchups are good

Well, if you go back 20-25 years or so you had 18-22 bowls mostly played by Power 5 teams against one another. This year you have 20 bowl games between just Power 5 teams. You have 5 more bowl games that feature Power 5 teams vs. Group of 5 opponents, Cotton-Wisconsin vs WMU, Cactus-Baylor vs Boise, Birmingham-USCe vs USF, St. Pete-Miss State vs Miami, OH, and Military-Wake vs Temple. That's 25 bowl games and essentially the old system. It's the smaller bowls between the Funbelt and MACtion teams that have increased the amount and make it seem over saturated. Those were the teams who didn't go to bowls 25 years ago.
