That stadium/complex sure as hell could’ve used the 30k in upgrades.

Rumor is that the baseball and softball fields are going to be fully turfed for next year

What ever happened to the principal over there? I saw he took a leave of absence, are they to just let him come back next year?

That’s the interesting part - 29k isn’t a lot of money - so what was his end goal here if he actually did commit the crime. Was his plan to do this every year?

He likely has been doing this every year—his LinkedIn shows him coaching for a series of private/religious schools over the past ten years. Private schools have a vested interest in not having this come to light, so when he was discovered they likely didn’t press charges.

With public schools, however, it’s truly a public record and when you’re caught it becomes known.

Felt like you were at a junkyard everytime you’d go to that stadium.

Sounds like admin at the school is incompetent - this should have been caught long before it got to the amount it did

I don't buy the "It was caught in post-season inventory check" story. I bet they have known about this for a while and didn't want to crash the season.

Will his former school now do a review of inventory and invoices to see if he did it there as well?

Hope so. Odds are this isn't the first time he has done it.

I posted this in the other thread on the OT but its worth repeating

How behind is Walker in how they handle their sports financials. Standard procedure even 10 years ago when I was coaching in HS was as follows

1. Get quote
2. Get purchase order from financial person signed by Principal
3. Use PO to order equipment
4. Equipment arrives with bill
5. Give bill to financial person and they mail a check to company
6. Company confirms payment received and emails receipt.

Yeah, wild that they allowed that much to be expensed rather than going through purchasing process. I wasn’t sure how that worked for a high school compared to a business but you just cleared it up.

Yea expensing things wasn't allowed except for situations that couldn't be avoided like the bus running low on gas on a long road trip.

2 things get you fired at public schools and it’s really only these two:
Romances
Finances

Some districts only do this if prior approval is requested.

Don't feel like going get the school gas card to put gas in the mower? Tough shite. Get the card or donate the gas.

You're telling me $30k Walked off and it took them that long to realize? At least he wasn't also engaged in a relationship with a student at the same time

Yea I don’t get reimbursed for food bought for my team without multiple levels of proof. Someone in admin needs to be in jail with him

Yes, sorry about that.

I should have elaborated more. And I got the initials wrong.

Yup. Massive internal control failure here. Only question now is was it intentional.
