I've been in the Harden for MVP camp (for obvious reasons) and I felt like for most of the year he was deserving, but if I am being objective I have to give props to Westbrook. He will win and nobody will look back on this year and think anything other than the dude was a beast. I spent years going crazy when the majority of the MSB ripped him for not being a "true" PG. I defended him for the same style of play has he has shown this year. He will never be the most efficient guy and it will be tough for another star to gel with him with this current style of play, but he's why you show up to watch a game.

My boy Harden will likely finish runner up for the 2nd time in 3 years, which is an accomplishment in itself. He was disrespected by not being on one of the All-NBA teams last year and he definitely didn't help his cause with his defensive effort some times, but this year he's been one of the best leaders in the league. The top SG in the game changed positions without complaining and has orchestrated one of the most productive offenses in league history. The first round matchup between Harden and Westbrook will be must see TV. My boy is going to come up short on the MVP but I'm hoping for a deep playoff run instead.

Anyway, this is me eating crow somewhat, although like I said I was a Westbrook supporter before it was cool. Props to Westbrook for going out and taking the award.

I enjoy the sentiment of this thread pct, too many basketball fans seem to draw a line in the sand and not appreciate greatness (myself included). The Westbrook vs harden argument is annoying to me at this point, there are no wrong answers in this mvp debate.

Classy fricking post

Good luck to Harden. I don't hate him or Westbrook, I just like giving overly homer rocketfan's shite Been a pleasure watching both do their thing this year. Should be a terrific round 1

Westbrook has been amazing this year and it's been fun to watch. I've been a Westbrook hater for many years but man this season was fun. Harden's been amazing too but I'd give Russ MVP. Great year for basketball, and I'm a Mavericks fan.

Sure did.

We is PISSED.

If Lebron can't get it done, I wouldn't mind seeing Harden get a ring. I like the guy and the Rockets are fun to watch. Can't wait for round 1

I mean like FLT just said, I don't think there's a wrong answer. Right or wrong, the triple double puts Westbrook over the top and I am not going to act like it's not a ridiculous accomplishment. I agree with Boom about Harden having the better season, but I have basically been shitting on Westbrook to prop up Harden and that is dumb, just like people shitting on Harden to prop up Westbrook (or to get even w/Boom).

Harden has had an MVP season in almost any other year but he had to go against one of the alltime seasons by russ. He really transcended his play this year and made a believer out of me

They're both deserving. Just no way to avoid giving the MVP to someone who's had such a historical year. Harden would win it if they had the overall best record.

He should have gotten in over Klay and Lilliard but the other four guards (Curry, Paul, Westbrook, and Lowery), had better seasons. Therefore, he should have been 3rd team, but he had the highest point total of those not on the three teams, and if it wasn't for positional constraints, he would have been in over Aldridge.

He was under appreciated, but I wouldn't say disrespected.

I too was an original Westbrook fanboy. I hate that this season has diminished that for me.

Props, Russ.

You see it all the time. People lose all rationality when it comes to sports. Especially when it involves their team.

I seriously cannot remember a year where 4 players made such compelling arguments. Usually there's like 2 guys at best but what Russ, Harden, Lebron, and Kawhi have done this year is amazing.

Props to Houston for bringing in D'Antoni and bringing in the right pieces to surround Harden with.

Well done P. I wouldn't call it a done deal quite yet though. From the voters we know have votes it is very close. Maybe even a harden lean if I go by straw poll data I've seen in the last 24 hrs.

Yep. People will remember this race for a while and will be important in when defining Westbrook's legacy.

I have to eat some crow here. I didn't think it would work this well. It is really nice to see a team buy in like they have.

Harden dumping the Kardashian helped too.
