The rules committee will kill this with quickness. But Denver or Indy has to prepare for it now as well.

As do the Patriots themselves, now that it's out there, right? Other coaches can attempt to use it against them. No problem.

I disagree and will now start using the reference.

Why don't we just allow forward passes anywhere on the field and allow offenses to tackle rushing DL.

Sucks for them not knowing the rules.

It isn't a loophole, and teams take advantage of this rule pretty regularly.

why are you laughing?

successful football is about deception and confusing your opponent

you sound like a person who'd be bitching when the first defense implemented zone defense or a zone blitz

I think it was legal. I've no problem with it in this game because it was simply an action within existing rules.

I'd also like to see stuff like this legislated out of existence.

You don't have to "think". It's clearly legal

If the ravens had an issue with it they should've blitzed the hell out of Brady when he only had 4 offensive linemen on the field protecting him

On one of the plays, did they not have one of the ineligible receivers go down field?

If that's what I saw, then the patriots should have been penalized.

I don't think they did this, but if they did, harbaughs issue should be about a no call of an ineligible down field, and not calling out legal subs as deception because his defense couldn't figure it out

Dunno. If one did, that would definitely be a penalty. I'd have to go back and look. Seems that if it happened though, that would've already been covered.

No, it is a "loophole".

There are certain numbers that are eligible and others that are ineligible. The reporting rules were added as an exception (ie loophole) to that rule.

But that isn't really my point - I'm saying that comparing the "deception" involved on rules over jersey numbers vs actually playing the game (Ie faking a handoff on a play action pass, a counter play, reverse, pump fake, zone blitz, formation, etc) is incorrect .

Enjoy your cartoons and have a great day.

Exceptions are not loopholes numb nuts

Loopholes are things that have not been thought of when rules are being made and not in the rule book

Something that is clearly stated in the rules is not a loophole. It's just shitty coaching and defense by the Ravens
