Ok. I just said that it was the great defenses the Vikings had that led them to those SBS... and you turned it around and said Tark was a more important factor.... Now you are saying it's a team accomplishment???? Make up your mind...

Which one is it....

Well Tark was the QB and the QB is the most important position on the field, the ARGUMENT is clearly the greatest QB not to win the SB

Not back then...... I doubt you were even alive back then.... but whatever stat boy......

Tark was a great QB... I watched him play during his career.... he was a scrambler and did a lot of great things.... and yes the eras were different between the two.....

But at the same time I guess you are gonna say that Jim Kelley is a better QB than Marino... am I right.??????

Is there a more important position on the football field?

In today's game??? No.... but again it doesn't really matter...
Serious question... did you even see Tark play???? Or even Marino for that matter?????

I actually argued Marino bc Jim didn't play that long so composite overall stats would be unfair so I relied on averages and Dan was sacked less overall(despite playing longer, anomaly), more pass yds/game, higher career passer rating and better career pass int pct.

But Kelly LED Buffalo to FOUR SBS and Marino only one.... by your logic Kelly must be better.....

Undoubtedly Marino, but I think it's crazy Philip Rivers has never had at least one Super Bowl run.

But he didn't set nor hold any records when he retired and threw a higher pct of ints than Marino. What distinguished Marino and Tarkenton is they were alarmingly proficient at compiling great QB numbers across the board, broke records and won: Marino's 3rd all-time in comebacks behind Brady and Manning, not Elway as the narrative always seems to promote. Kelly also doesn't hold the accolades Marino and Tarkenton held as well, no MVP awards.

But yet you have talked that winning is all that is important... IN THIS THREAD.....

You are very inconsistent with your debates no matter the sport...... I get it... you are a stat guy and nothing else.... and probably around 22ish....

What colors were the Cowboys vs Colts SB in 1970??? (Played in Jan of 1971...

I wasn't inconsistent: winning is an element in determining how great a QB is but it isn't the primary, determinant factor though. Otherwise, Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer would be considered among the greatest QBs ever. Stats also matter in evaluating a quarterback and frankly Dan was a better quarterback than Kelly was statistically, from an efficiency standpoint, AND he led the Dolphins to a Super Bowl. If Dan never led the Dolphins to any Super Bowls, then the Kelly argument would be stronger bc that fact indicates that Dan was incapable of leading teams to the Super Bowl whereas Kelly wasn't.

And he broke all of Johnny Unitas' career passing records so that counts for something as well

You STILL seem to think that there is NOTHING more important than the QB position...

I am still waiting for you to post stats of the defenses that Fouts and moon had compared to the defenses that Tark had......
