Phillip Rivers

I am surprise no one has mentioned him
Just goes to show how under appreciated he really is and how hopefully the move to LA could help him get into the HOF

Because of Dick LeBeau.

Dick LeBeau with his untimed blitzes and blitzes from all directions may be the best defensive coach ever

Phillip Rivers

It's a shame that the Chargers' dysfunction has mostly buried proper recognition of him in recent years.

No rings and playing in San Diego haven't helped, but his numbers stack up against his peers admirably. You can only wonder if he'd be thought of differently if he had played elsewhere.

Is there any doubt that it is Dan Marino

Probably not. Since all the other guys he's compared with as a QB in general have SB rings.

Boomer is in that list if you're going to have Danny White and Kenny Anderson.

Ken Anderson is absurdly underrated in terms of QBs that never won the SB. In the mid-70s, when the league completion pct. average was 52%, Anderson was completing 64% of his passes. That's blowing away the curve my friends.

What hurt Rivers more than anything else

Drew Brees. Charger fans never liked the decision and always thought that their team made the wrong move

So if your own fanbase does not appreciate you the entire country will not

Hopefully the move to LA will change all this because he actually deserves to be recognized as a great NFL QB

You've missed Phillip Rivers his entire career, then. Anyone else is playing for 2nd and had a lot of catching up to do.

Dan Marino was Drew Brees before Brees.

Dude, Phillip Rivers played on some STACKED teams. He played with the following all at one time:

Antonio Gates
Ladanian Tomlinson
Michael Turner
Darren Sproles
Vincent Jackson

He has been on some very good TEAMS.

Jesus Christ man, you're like Fat Jonah Hill in Moneyball in every thread.

Step back away from the numbers...sports isn't reduced to numbers.

Otherwise everyone would say now...man, Johnny Unitas sucked man, look at these numbers; they said his record of consecutive games of TD passes would never be broken like DiMaggio...but lookie here...48 years later 3 guys broke it in two years under Goodell.

Point is, numbers don't mean shite but for against your peers at the time.

Historically - they don't mean shite against different eras. Compare Brady and Manning all you want...or Stabler vs. Bradshaw, but that's it.

And lay off the # crunching...doesn't prove or mean anything.
