Greatest living owners in sports?

All the great owners are dead.

This guy is great, but he's also the one who hired Krause, who made the famous "players don't win championships, organizations do" statement. And allowed Krause to run MJ into 2 early retirements.

Krause was a great GM FWIW. He hired Phil, drafted Pippen, Grant and Kukoc, traded for Rodman, etc...... And he was right about organizations playing a critical role in winning championships. Just ask the Spurs or even the Warriors for that matter.
As for great owners, I would like to mention one owner who always seem to go under the radar. That would be Pat Bowlen. The Broncos have made six Super Bowls and have never had back to back losing seasons under his ownership. The Broncos have changed head coaches, quarterbacks and GMs over the years but two things have always remained a constant: Pat Bowlen and a winning product on the field.

Yet he's usually the last to get any credit for anything regarding that Bulls run. He let his pride get the best of him though.

That didn't occur because he was inept. He just couldn't deal with getting none of the credit for their success. MJ/Phil Jackson openly disrespected the guy. Under those conditions I don't know that I could've dealt with it any better than he did.
Like I said, very good GM that let his pride get the best of him.

Also it pains me to say as a Rockets fan, but Cubes is a great owner. They were one of the worst franchises in the NBA and they've been consistently good for a long time now, with one championship and one other finals appearance. Aside from Dirk they've done it with coaching and roster turnover

After they won six championships. It's not like the Bulls would have won more championships anyway. The Bulls were starting to go downhill by 1998. A mediocre Pacers took them to seven games and actually would have won the series if they had hit their free throws. Pippen, Rodman, and even Jordan were starting to look old. All of the Bulls left at the perfect time.

There is a fine line between being an egomaniacal a-hole, and inept.

If you have to constantly argue and fight over contracts every year, and on top of that, have the GM trash you and your team. Making unpopular trades and basically telling you to suck it up because you are just a player, that is likely one of the main reasons Jordan retired after the second 3-peat.

Much more than that. He's Jerry Jones, but a much much bigger a-hole. And has rings.....

There were plenty of a-holes in that organization to go around, MJ and Phil Jackson included. I'm not going to pin it all on Krause.

Maybe so, but Krause was a constant thorn in their side, and was constantly undermining them.
