Sucks, they're probably going to put all of the good stuff (Zach Lowe) behind their stupid paywall

Not a shock especially with the cuts ESPN has been making. Should have pulled the plug when they canned Simmons.

Bill Barnwell will never have a paying writing job again. He was the worst writer ever. I bet Simmons regretted that hire.

No

It'll be interesting who ESPN is able to retain since they vomited all over themselves as bosses during the entire post-BS Grantland era.

Simmons was with ESPN. They let him start Grantland. He left, but they owned it.

They were paying him like 5 million per year though.

It unofficially died when Simmons left. I'm not sure why it took them this long to pull the plug on a project they lost money on after the principal driver of their traffic left.

Now I wonder, are those guys contracted to Grantland or ESPN? Like are they all laid off?

Yeah, from what I'm seeing, the writers all found out from a tweet.

Jon Miller thinks ESPN kept it around to prove they did not need Simmons.

Barnwell have an nfl podcast with simmons IMO.

Lowe will land at ESPN if he wants to. So will Jonah Keri. All of the other talented people already left (for the most part).

Lowe and them are probably leaving to work for Simmons.

On one of his pods he said he wasn't sure about writing again so will there be a "new Grantland" for them to write for or is everyone going with him just doing podcast and his eventual HBO show? Or if you're Lowe do you go to say Yahoo to write and I'd imagine they'd let him do pods with Simmons.

Simmons should start Landgrant

Seriously, this is such an indictment on ESPN and the average sports fan. Those guys did great work but no one took the time to appreciate their work.

There are some seriously uber talented dudes who just found out on Twitter that they wouldn't be writing anymore.

All @Grantland33 writers will have their contracts honored; intent is to use sports writers on other @espn platforms.

Only the culture people fired except for Jacoby kinda..

I'm pretty sure that Lowe is under contract with ESPN because he had a presence beyond Grantland with them. I'm not sure they will let him out of it.

If they do I think he goes with Yahoo or something as others have mentioned and works with Simmons as well.
