No to your question. Too much LSU in NOLA. Tulane is moving in the right direction though

No reason why Tulane can not be competitive in their conference

I don't live in Nola so I don't know alot about the team. Was surprised to see an article on the front of Grantland about their football team. Looks like they are heading the right way.

Just realized who makes up the AAC and they should definitely be competitive.

Being competitive in the their conference may not win over New Orleans...but it may help them take the step necessary for them to win over New Orleans.

Tulane needs to win in The American. If they do, they stand a slight chance to be invited to the ACC or Big 12 one day. Then they are playing with the big boys with a chance for people to really care.

I think the new stadium on campus is actually a great thing for Tulane. If I'm ever in Nola on a Tulane gameday, having no knowledge of the Green Wave or the program at all whatsoever, I'd still be inclined to take in a game just because of the setting.

So, I'm thinking they're heading in the right direction and relevance is really the aim of the program for the short term.

I didn't get tix, but I will be tailgating for the game tomorrow.

Should be a fun way to spend a couple of hours before the Auburn game tomorrow night.

When I was a kid during the 1970's, Tulane could count a slight majority of fans in it's favor in NOLA. That was when a much greater percentage of the student body was comprised of locals. Now that's changed and many of the local Tulane fans are aging while not being replaced.

Tulane football is doomed. It will never be relevant and never taken seriously by a majority of sports fans of New Orleans. Never. Tulane is like the Southern most MAC school. Tulane is like Bowling Green or Western Michigan at best.

NOLA is a Saints town.
LSU is popular, moreso that they're top 10; Tulane will be popular if we're good.
A lot of people don't draw lines anymore like they did 25+ years ago. A lot of new people moving into the city.
Plenty of room.

if Curtis Johnson can keep the progress rolling Tulane will be successful.

They have a great core to build around in Tanner Lee and Sherman Badie

yeah LSU and the P5 schools are so far ahead now that it's almost like a different game, one where New Orleanians feel alright about rooting for LSU and Tulane (or whichever in-state team) at their levels

Many said the same for Vandy but Vandy did have the SEC card in their pocket

I totally disagree. They may have a long way to go, but it can be done. They have already taken several steps in the right direction. They got me to buy season tickets and I haven't been to Tulane game since the '90s.
