NFL commissioner Roger Goodell delivered a strong statement against marijuana use Friday, telling ESPN Radio that the league sees no medical benefits and adding that "it may not be healthy for the players long-term."

Um...Rog, I don't think anyone is arguing it will help players long-term. The point is that it's probably better than team Doc handing out more pain killers than a West Virginia pill mill.

Oh, and I'm willing to bet money that long-term weed usage has a less deleterious effect on an individual's health than say....playing in the NFL.

Pain relief, sleeping, staying asleep, energy all improved once she started smoking. Also elimated lots of other drugs she was pumping herself with all day, every day.

Not saying it "cured" her from anything, but she was in much worse shape before than after as far as day to day living goes. She's active again instead of in bed. Fatigue doesn't seem to knock her down as quickly as before.

It's really wild. I have a bottle of opioids on my desk right now that can frick me up to the moon and back and it's no big deal. If I smoked a single rip at home and took a piss test a week later I'd be fired.

Theres a good amount of medical marijauna patients in colorado that just eat edibles. There are other ways besides smoking. You got all sorts of edibles, from hard candy and gummies to cookies and oat meal bites. They have different kinds of powder you can mix with tea or coffee. shite they even make marijauna sodas now.

Sure but he's cool with all the players taking Vicodin...

Sure, that's not addicting.

"The trainers and the doctors used to go down the aisle and say, 'Who needs what?'" Turley said. "If you had something hurting and needed a painkiller to take the edge off so you could sleep that night, they made sure you had it.

A scientific study conducted by researchers at Washington University in St. Louis found that retired NFL players misuse opioid pain medications at a rate more than four times that of the general population.

When asked about their prescription painkiller use while playing in the NFL, 52 percent of the retired players surveyed said they used prescription pain medication. Of those users, 71 percent admitted misusing the drugs during their playing days.

"I never took a Vicodin in college, ever," he said. "I didn't even know what Vicodin was until I got to the NFL."

I agree with Asshat that there may not be any health benefits.

But I don't think there are any health detriments either.

frick I hate him.

Does he not know marijuana can be ingested without smoking it? Does he not know it is not addictive?

Does he not know that opiate addiction is an epidemic and his players are suffering at a rate much higher than the general public?

What a clown show.

Have any of y'all ever smoked the reefer?

I haven't and I never will. I'm fine if it's legal but nobody ever offered me a hit whenever I'd see it at the parties. People are rude

When Goodell pulls stuff like this, it always brings me back to how the players act when they see him on stage when they get drafted. The whole big hug just doesn't make any sense to me. They have to be aware of all the instances of current and former players hating Goodell. Yeah, I understand they are excited to be drafted, but you just got done hugging every person in your family. Just shake the hand of the guy whose job it is to keep a larger piece of the pie for the owners than the players.

Research CBD.
There's a ton of info about it and the benefits it provides for MS patients.

Meanwhile, the opioid peddlers keep on successfully peddling, and addicting, and killing. Goodell's comments are idiotic, and I'm pretty sure he knows it. Music to my ears last night as the crowd in Philly repeatedly booed this clown with the relentlessness.

I booed that bitch from my house every time he would announce a pick. frick him.

Some days I wouldn't be able to function without weed.
I was on painkillers for 6 years; wouldn't wish that terrible merry-go-round on anybody.
So FURG and your sanctimonious self-righteous bullshite. Ask your players about the medical benefits of weed, a-hole.

But yes, by all means, lets keep pumping players with opioids.
