Starting with feet together and taking a step is a great drill to do if you're not getting your lower body out of the way with a good hip turn.

Another good drill is taking small steps forward alternating feet while swinging.

What's your handicap, btw?

Have you noticed that none of the scratch or near scratch golfers have said I'm full of shite? That should probably tell you something.

Those scratch golfers have obviously never played baseball then.

The swing is not the same and it's obvious if you ever give a baseball player a driver for the first time and have him hit it off a tee.

They lean back and the weight transfer and distribution is completely different. That's one of the main parts of a swing.

Because they lean back and the weight distribution is different, they'll either top the ball or if they make contact they'll get so far under it they'll hit it almost straight up in the air.

No idea as to my handicap. It had been years since I've taken golf that seriously. And I don't disagree with everything you've posted, only the posts I quoted and I don't believe your scores.

Plenty of the "golf guys" have disagreed with you ITT.

If you want a video explanation, here is a short YouTube clip from someone who can explain the difference to you:

Two things are factors in why they sky the ball and hang back.... their feet are spaced farther apart in baseball and they tend to rise up out of their posture. But still, the fundamentals require to propel the ball forward remain the same.

Your left hand grip has a ton to do with how you swing the club. The weaker the grip, the less angle you have between the left forearm and the shaft. That means if you don't have much angle, you'll likely be a sweeper. This also isn't talking about face implications of how the club is gripped.

No, they don't rise up in their posture. They sit down like you do with a baseball swing.

Imagine someone swinging at a golf ball like this:

It should be easy to see why they would hit a ball straight up in the air.

That guy proves my point. First of all, he admittedly doesn't know much about the golf swing. In golf, just like baseball, your head stays back while your lower body goes forward. Your follow trough is what brings you into the posted position on your left leg. And if your legs feet were closer together in baseball the finish would look identical to that of a golf finish.

I'm talking about the reasons why baseball players sky the ball in golf. They lose their spine angle and have their feet too far apart.

None of this changes the fundamentals of propelling the ball forward. It changes your swing plane, obviously, but it doesn't change the body movements you have to make to hit the bball properly.

You are just wrong.

At no point in a golf swing do you bend your back leg and lean back and "sit down" when you swing. Your hips and everything transfers forward to the point where you finish forward like this:

The mechanics of that golf swing is not the same at all to the mechanics of a baseball swing like this:

You absolutely "sit down" in the golf swing, it's just less noticeable because you're bent forward at the hips. It happens in the transition from back to through swing, just like baseball.

You keep proving my point better than I am. Thanks, I guess.

Are you talking about horizontal swing plane or vertical swing plane?

And yes, you create much more potential for speed with a strong grip and you have to have an extremely fast upper body to play golf with a strong grip(usually). Go find me a long drive guy with a weak grip then tell me grip "doesn't change the fundamentals of propelling the ball forward."

WTF did he do to his right leg? I can't see him beating anything out with it broken in two or three places like that.

So then tell me this.. is this a perfect golf swing with the only difference from the baseball swing being the swing plane?

I'm saying the weaker the grip the more likely you are to have a steeper backswing. But steep or flat, you have the same fundamental body movements.
