Hit it as straight as you can point

Kidding, I'm actually good friends with this guy (Dalton).

Biggest difference between a golf swing and a baseball swing is the weight shift.

Golf 90 the weight ends up on your front leg

Baseball you brace on the front leg and pivot to generate torque.

Weight distribution is different

So you bend both elbows and step into your golf swing?

What someone means when they say you have a baseball swing is the golfer is swaying off the ball, not turning his hips. their weight is getting on the back foot, but the hips are not turning. In the golf swing your hips have GOT to turn on the back swing, in baseball swing, they do NOT turn.. In the right context the statement is correct.

While we're discussing the golf swing....how come I see all the pros have an alignment stick between their feet and the ball? I put it on the other side of the ball. I feel like it helps me square up the club face better.

Is it just feel and preference?

Agree with most of what you said. But grip matters - should be natural and light to have benefits. One grip does not fit all.

Sometimes I practice weight shift by stepping into a shot just like baseball. Different swing plane of course!

We make it too hard sometimes. Swing hard enough for the ball to go towards the target. If it goes off line it is too hard.

Handicap 10 years ago was 5. Quit playing due to travel. Shoot mid to high 80's on average now. Need to play more regularly as there is nothing like hitting a pure gold shot. Best round ever was a 65 on par 72. Many moons ago!

Swing hard in case you hit it

that's not terrible advice, imho.

like hardball, if you swing smoothly and not with more than 60% power, the ball will fly like a rocket. and its easy to control direction.

I once hit a hardball 461 feet in a game. 16 years old. I didn't swing hard.
It crashed into the backstop of another field. not a high fly. a drive.
I used to hit HRs in every game in Little League. never swung hard once.
the ball would fly out of the park. looked like Hank Aaron. big flies to left center.

same with golf. smooth swing. over 300 yards.

If you think the golf swing and baseball swing is the same, you don't know what you're talking about.

The weight shift is not the same at all.

Either you have no idea what you're talking about or you have the world's worst baseball/golf swing.

You are so full of shite

Look at that weight distribution and how his body is leaning back... just like a golf swing...

Not.

Seriously, they aren't the same at all. It's obvious if you've ever seen a baseball player try to pick up golf. I have. They have a classic baseball swing and it's obvious their first time teeing up a golf ball.

They often top the ball or hit it straight up in the air because the weight distribution of a baseball swing is totally different from a golf swing.

Ok, you've lost me now. Grip is most important due to anatomy. Read a book (preferably Ben hogans 5 fundamentals).

I've read it several times. My point was that no matter what your grip looks like you swing the club the same way. The actual grip is immaterial to the way you swing it.

But in terms of getting the ball to go where you want and do what you want, yes it's absolutely essential.

So insecure you're offering to play anyone who criticizes you get a grip

I'm not meeting up with a random TAMU poster from tigerdroppings to play golf.

Just know that I think you're either completely and utterly full of shite, or you play well despite not knowing jack shite about how to swing a golf club. And there aren't very many naturals at golf.
