I agree with you, the problem is we’re past the evolution now. The 3point efficiency apex was hit in 2015-16 and now we’re on the backside of the arch and dropping fast. The league isn’t using the 3 smartly anymore it’s overused out of necessity because the league is so dumbed down right now which has a lot to do with college and other developmental issues that all fall under the NBAs watch.

Jacking up wide open three after three with no resistance from defenses is real fun to watch.

Yeah. That sucks too. It’s why I hate watching the Rockets.

This is dumb. I guess I should just delete my comment because I didn’t want this to turn into a now vs then style debate. It’s a dumb debate.

Exactly. I’m not debating the styles of the game with someone that wasn’t even old enough to really live through this era.

I’m sorry, but I just don’t think this Utah Jazz team was really THAT good.

These people always shite on the Jazz even though the beat the other 3 NBA champs from that era with their cores intact, (Lakers, Spurs, Rockets). You can tell these people simply didn’t watch basketball then, they only know the absolute high points, things any novice fan knows.

It’s basketball for idiots. The younger fans have the attention span of a gnat and the players don’t know much about the game either. There are no continuous or multi layered offenses and without any resistance of movement the game is simply turn the corner on your man, 90% of all players can do this, if the help comes move the ball then keep it in front of the rotation. That’s modern NBA basketball, it takes all of 5 minutes to teach.
This is what someone who doesn’t know what they’re watching would say.

I could easily characterize NBA in the 90’s as dump the ball down to the big man and let him shoot from the block if no double team comes. If a double team comes, simply pass it back out and swing it to the open man. Rinse and repeat.

The fact is, it’s real basketball now. No artificial illegal defense rules.

Notes so far:

Malone is abusing Rodman.

No idea why Ron Harper doesn’t take Hornacek every possession.

MJs fade away will always be my favorite shot. It’s so perfect.

The funniest moment so far was MJ losing track of shot clock during iso and Doug Collins calling it “great team defense”

And you’d be wrong across the board and in every way.

Also, Costas really REALLY had disdain for Rodman.

You forgot pick and roll.

People who've never played against NBA players think it's easy to beat one off the dribble. Creating proper spacing and making plays is not easy.

Watching this game, it's sort of funny someone would call the Jazz offense complex. Half their plays are a cross lane screens for Malone to go to the left block for a postup.

It’s funny when I hear that Curry would be a role player in this era.

Those are called flex screens / flex action, and it’s a staple of Jerry Sloan’s flex offense.

And you’re exactly right.

Can you imagine the dick riders from today’s blue checks if Malone played today? They’d be arguing he’s the GOAT too.

It’s just a cross screen dude a flex cut is a little different, it happens in a pocket.

I just mean, if you're claiming offenses were more complex in the 90's, look at how many times the Jazz run the same play.

They have two base variations. They run the horizontal version where Malone goes block to block off a Hornacek screen.

Then there's the vertical version where Malone starts at the elbow and Hornacek starts at the block.
