WTF? Cord cutting is the reason.

They aren't shelling out tens of billions for the NBA, NFL, and MLB.

from what I understand FS1 has Shannon sharpe and skip Bayless doing the same song and dance.

here's the problem with espn

1. they hire writers as on air talent...anyone with a brain knows that's a disaster waiting to happen.

2. they don't have an environment where talent feels confident saying something interesting, funny or entertaining.

you can only hear it millions of times though before it becomes something you need to take seriously. people say they don't watch because it's too much liberal politics or that it is just too much politics. I think it's something that's very legitimate and a contributing factor, though not the sole reason.

Every single thread about ESPN has had multiple posters citing cord cutting as far and away the bigger reason.

ESPN being liberal isn't why people are cutting the cord.

ESPN being liberal is why many people do not watch ESPN anymore.

I mean I don't think it's that difficult to realize that neither the one sided commentary or the larger issue of chord cutting are great for the network.

This. And it isn't just "they're liberal." It's the type of shows and things that come along with it.

Is FS1 available on an equal number of tiers as ESPN?

ESPN also makes $7.21/month per subscriber just for ESPN.

Fox makes $1.15 per subscriber for FS1

I used to leave my TV on Sportscenter all day and let it loop like crazy. I'd see the top 10 highlights from the day before along with other information (non-partisan) about the on-goings of my favorite teams. I tune into SC now, and all I get are "Hot takes" and a bunch of political BS that I'm in no way, shape or form wanting to receive from my SPORTS show. Like many others, I get all of my sports information including highlights from the internet now.

Cord-cutting is causing it but the left-leaning shift is making it worse. Here's how:

1. With the advent of streaming services with a la carte pricing available, yuppies (a large portion of whom are both politically liberal and, more importantly, not sports followers) are terminating their cable services and going to those services.
2. The loss of revenue causes major problems within ESPN.
3. In an attempt to win them back, ESPN decides to shift its sports-news reporting to a liberal bent (e.g. giving Caitlin Jenner--ironically a Trump supporter--a "courage" award).
4. #3 fails miserably. The yuppies don't return because, again, sports isn't their thing.
5. And now the core sports base (generally politically conservative), who think that the MSM is not just biased, but openly hostile, to their beliefs, are deciding that ESPN has become another liberal media outlet. As most major colleges and all professional teams have some sort of streaming service through other providers (plus, in the immediate area, you have local broadcasts, and radio as well), they go that route.
