I'm watching the Giants/Cowboys game, but I've heard the same presnap call from tons of different QBs. It sounds like they yell "180" or "white 80" right before the snap. What are the signaling or calling for? And what's the actual call?

Anyone have an idea?

A lot of the garbage they say is worthless. I would assume all NFL teams make two calls in the huddle(run/pass). The switch the play they would call either a food/state something broad so the other team doesn't quite figure it out.

Right. But I'm telling you, if you listen, it's like EVERY team. "180, hut" ball is snapped. It's gotta be just a generic "man" vs "zone" call or something

You are likely hearing "white 80" like you think and it means absolutely nothing

Just chatter to keep rhythm kinda like an auctioneer

So several NFL teams just randomly decided on "white 80"?

Aaron Rodgers says "GREEN EIGHTEEEEEEEN, green eighteen" pretty much every single snap. It seemed every time he changed it up this week, the Raiders jumped offside.

Even more widespread, several nfl, college, high school, middle school, and peewee teams use that combination along With a few others

White 80 is very easy to say and never hangs up

Some of the number, colors, words called out have a purpose, some are dummy calls. Audibules/checks/dummies and snap cadence.

Its the snap call. Most teams don't use "down, set, hit, hit".

They use hit.

For example. LSU's Jefferson goes up to the line and says "Gold 9, Gold 9...HIT!!" and nothing. Scans the defense then goes "Blue 65, Blue 65...HIT" and the ball is snapped. Most teams use 3-4 "dummy" colors, and 3-4 live colors. Gold is a dummy color, while blue is a live color, letting the offense know the ball is about to be snapped.

I know a lot are dummy calls. I was just wondering the significance of white 80 since its so widespread. It makes sense as just a generic easy to use place holder

Dan Marino used to say his color and number combo then READYgo to snap the ball

That always stuck with me for some reason

KState, Iowa, and teams that have Snyder/Miller influence...
Black/Brown run
Red/Blue 3 step
Yellow/Green 5 step
Grey 7 step
Orange Feet in cement
Numbers determined hole and it was read right to left 1-9

we use to use the color to signal which play, of the two we called in the huddle and the number to signal the direction...sometimes, iirc.
