But that's why HBO told Al Haymon and Golden Boy to GTFO. They got hurt by paying Andre Berto seven figures to fight nobodies....all because they let Al Haymon bully them around. Seven figures for Andre Berto? That's laughable. Showtime is gonna get hammered financially in the same fashion. Al Haymon...in some way....gets his fighters some really nice paydays. HBO wasn't having it anymore...and their budget is larger than Showtime's, plus they have more subscriptions.

The first sign that this was a bad deal was when they never released the numbers for the Guerrero fight. I think Floyd got his 32 and Guerrero got 3. All indications are Showtime lost big on that fight. We all know the Canelo fight was a huge success, though. But I have a feeling Maidana's 1.5 could be a result of the Guerrero failure a year ago. Going into Saturday night, most believed this fight wouldn't draw many buys either. It'll be interesting to see the numbers.

That's kinda why I think the Mayweather-Canelo fight happened as soon as it did....to get something back on their Mayweather investment after the Guerrero letdown. They probably wanted to keep building that fight and make it happen once Floyd got a little older and Canelo a little more experienced. Just my .02
