FRICK CANCER

quote:

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank announced Tuesday he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

"In December I was diagnosed with a treatable form of prostate cancer," Blank said in a statement released by the team. "Over the last several weeks Angie and I have visited a number of expert doctors and hospitals across the country to identify the best treatment options for me. I have chosen an aggressive approach that will include surgery and the overall prognosis is good. I'm looking forward to getting this behind me and continuing a very active lifestyle, my upcoming wedding, as well as continued active involvement in our businesses and philanthropic efforts for years to come."

Blank purchased the Falcons in 2002. The 73-year-old owner was one of the co-founders of Home Depot.

During his ownership, the Falcons have won the NFC South three times and made six playoff appearances.

Cold blooded, man.

In all seriousness, best of luck to Mr. Blank.

Damn that sucks but at least it sounds like they caught it early. Cancer can eat a dick.

Sucks, but how bad am I supposed to feel about a 73 year old billionaire getting treatable cancer?

What do his personal finances have to do with anything? Does he not have a family who loves him because he's rich? Are his kids supposed to be cool with him getting cancer because he has a lot of money?

He's one of the more respected owners in sports. NFL would be worse without him

Poor taste, but I'd be lying if I said that wasn't the first thing I thought of when I read the headline.

What an ignorant statement. What does it matter if he's a billionaire or average wealthy man? His life is on the line and odds are against him. Did you see how sick Steve Jobs in his last few days? Learn to show a little humanity when a man a little to no time left.

With statement like that, all you care is money in life.

Uh, most men with prostate cancer die from something else. It is an indolent weird generally very slowly progressive disease.

Often urologists just follow it with no treatment.

1st thing I thought of was I hope no Saints fans post anything douchey

2nd thing was the NFL should take advantage of its captive audience and campaign for prostate cancer research and treatment, instead of that pink ribbon marketing bullshite they do to expand their female ad share

Because his life was easier than most. He's lived quite a full life. There are old people all over the country who are dying. Why am i supposed to feel bad for a well off one who i dont know with treatable cancer.

Where is the post for the dying kids in 3rd world countries with no access to even the most basic health care. This dude is gonna be fine. Jeez.

If you're a man and you live long enough, odds are that you'll get prostate cancer.
