I appreciate the doc but it's not like it's breaking news.
Manning was dead in the water beyond the clear and the cream...3 years ago.
It's just Manning fanboys that insist he's miracle of human science and performance.
Manning is just like any other athlete - they will do whatever it takes to make more money and prolong their career. It's not a shocking proposition.
And now he plays like he would have 4 years ago without any aid from science and medicine. Because that stuff eventually catches up with you.
But he made his bucks, got paid bank by the Broncos and he does Papa Johns as his legacy.
He made his money. He's happy.

Peyton Manning retained the services of former WH Press secretary Ari Fleischer, who now does crisis management. I spoke to him last night

Why would Peyton obtain the services of a company who deals in crisis management if all of the accusations are lies? And I remember another athlete who hired Ari Fleischer a couple years. That would be Alex Rodriguez when he was first connected to the Biogenesis Scandal...

Manning missed the 2011 season, when he was a member of the Indianapolis Colts, after undergoing neck surgery
I see no issue if he took something while he was not playing and recovering from surgery
As long as he wasn't on it while he was active, really nothing big.
But rules are rules and if he broke them, his legacy will be tarnished.

ESPN is apparently going to interview him today about this, which seems kind of quick to me. So, either he knew this was coming and is rolling out his pre-planned script or the story is 100% horseshite.

good PR control is to tackle the issue head on if you have a platform to proliferate your message. if you can control the story and make it seem silly, you have a better chance of it dying (public stops caring and the economic justification to keep covering it dies out). however, the risk is that it doesn't die and you make a sound/video clip that can be repeated infinitely
the risk is worth it b/c if you don't say anything, in our current media climate, you will be reported as hiding and indirectly admitting fault. so if you say nothing, you are guilty. if you are guilty and jump on the story early, you may be able to kill it. you at least have a chance going this route

That is interesting coming from you, a person I would expect to advise his client to say nothing until you can gather facts. But, this probably isn't a legal matter (just PR), so I guess there's not much downside if he hangs himself in a way.

well if he's guilty, he's guilty. this isn't a criminal investigation. this is in the court of public opinion
he will only be "found guilty" if the media has an interest to keep pushing the story
if he's guilty, the best way to prevent the public from judging him guilty is to kill the story
if he's not guilty, there is no downside to a big PR blitz proclaiming his innocence
either way he should attack the issue early and often, and he has the platform to do so

peyton is in a similar position to lance where he's not just protecting his sports career but a hundred million dollar money making machine
Posted on 12/27/15 at 10:11 am to usc6158
yeah i was going to bring up lance b/c he attacked the issue and he kept up the ruse for like a decade doing so. what "got" lance was the jealousy of europeans who used their governments to get involved. if that happens to peyts, he's fricked (if guilty)
btw, lance was on joe rogan this month and i've heard about half of it and it's really good

Who cares if football players are taking PEDs...

Lance ended up crashing down because he had a government agency as a sponsor, which opened him to a federal whistleblower case from Landis who was pissed he didn't get a job after being popped. The French tried for years to take him down and failed.
The rogan podcast is really excellent and interesting even though it's clear rogan knows nothing about pro cycling
