@ you for still thinking Deshields was a top prospect.

Let's face it, ANY player that gets traded from the system, you're going to call a prospect, because that's what you do. That's what you are....a troll.

The ONLY one I don't like see going is Ruiz. I really don't think the loss of that guy is going to hinder the plan. I'm happy they're bringing in ML players now. It's better than what we saw last year in the offseason. And the year before.

To bring in ML players, you have to give up prosepects.....even if you give up 3 of these top ten, you still have 70% of your top prospects remaining. I like that high number. "wbu?"

They can at least save on A/C this summer in Houston. A lot of whiffing with Carter, Gattis, Singleton, Springer, Dominguez, and Castro

He's been saying Deshields was a top prospect since the Rule 5 to get under our skin. At least he will get to do plenty of pinch running this summer

two top prospects

Meh, Folty can throw 100 but he still can't pitch. Hopefully he turns into a top flight reliever. I'd be more excited about Ruiz, though. As a Stros fan, I like this. 30 HR potential, under team control for 4 more years, crawfish boxes, etc.

For 4 years the line has been "the Astros are trading away good players and tanking with prospects because the owner is cheap and they want to get #1 picks."

Now we're trading away prospects for good major leaguers and the line is "You're trading away top prospects. That's going hurt the rebuild! Rabble rabble!"

Can't please everyone I guess.

And it's not like they're abandoning the plan either. 28 years old with team control and can fit in at a couple positions that are thinner in the system. I like it, and bigger picture it tells me the franchise is getting to the point where they're going to make aggressive moves to build a winner at the ML level

You're right, I forgot about Conger.

at Lester thinking Deshields was still a top 10 prospect. At one time he was, but he has been trending downward for a while now.

I'm excited to see the stros making moves now bringing in proven guys finally.

He's the best of the 3 for sure but I don't mind losing him with Moran in waiting.

I don't see a trade rape on either side. It looks like a trade that worked out for both teams to me

I agree. I don't know what it is about this rebuild that causes so much vitriol. The plan was never to field a team completely made of home grown prospects. You stockpile "pieces", keep the ones that fit, trade the ones that don't in an effort to improve. I'm happy with the commitment to spending this offseason and according to the plan, that will increase next offseason as well.

I think it's a good move for both. Braves are now trending towards the rebuild whereas the Stros are adding small pieces to get better

It's just funny how this board works. Now, Braves fans are knocking Gattis when they have been on his nuts for two seasons. The prospects the Stro fans have been hyping for a few years are now not as highly thought of and expendable

Saw the same thing between Card and Brave fans in the Miller/Heyward deal. Just shows the thick bias this board has towards their teams

Lester Earl's go-to's:

Astros: When are those prospects going to start doing something? Astros are still sucking. When is this "awesome" farm system going to do anything?

Texans: JJ Watt is all juiced up.

Rockets: Dwight Howard is cancer and will never win a championship. Harden is a flopper who can't win in the playoffs.

He likes to troll Houston teams.

21yrs old, stole 54 bases with a .346 OBP

pretty sure he was 10th or 11th on the post season prospect list for the Astros.

Consider 6 of the top 10 are pitchers, and he was easily one of the top 5-6 guys in the system as a hitter.

Either way he was the 8th overall pick of the draft like 3 years ago, not exactly a great look if you indeed think he sucks.

You don't say. About every sports fan is biased.

I love Gattis but he would have been a disaster in LF. He will be a solid DH/C for the Astros

well, when are they? I think I've been DEAD on about the Astros farm system. It jumped from like the mid 20's to the top 3 in one year. Huh? How? Why? Cause they drafted Correa? They had 1 or 2 headliners and that was about it. That was always my point, and it's been dead on since.

It's still not impressive to me. Now they are getting rid of those same guys you all were vouching for, & all of a sudden they are "meh".

Appel has been terrible. Domingo Santana couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. You just traded your #4 prospect, who all of a sudden is "just a bullpen arm".

You're not having to trade for guys like Gattis to fill holes. You had to pay Jed Lowrie $8mil a year. Now there is nothing wrong with signing free agents, but for 3 years we've kept hearing about these prospects. Now you are signing re-treads and trading top 10 prospects for a guy like Gattis.

I dont troll, I truly believe that.

I've never knocked Howard.

Rockets do have two 1st round exits the last 2 years after winning 99 regular season games combined. Your 1st team All NBA player has shot 38% from the field combined in those series. How is that a troll? It's hard facts.
