Empty stadia for minor bowls

Nobody in St. Petersburg and Dallas empty. Sun Bowl no one and Yankee Stadium half full.
Too many bowls with too many mediocre teams?
Besides dropping some bowls, whats the answer?

Heart of Dallas Bowl has a pretty good turnout considering the weather was supposed to be god awful today (storms have yet to start but its been windy) and the fact that a 6-6 Washington was brought in b/c the Big 12 didn't have a team eligible for the game. You also have to understand that they are playing at the old Cotton Bowl stadium which holds over 100k people. Any crowd of less than 80k or is going to look bad in that stadium.
Not sure why anyone would expect a big crowd for the Sun Bowl when Miami is playing in it. They can't fill their own home games up (b/c its a small private school w/wishy washy bandwagon fans) so there was zero chance they'd bring a big crowd anywhere outside the state of Florida. Washington State also has issues trouble filling their stadium and thats with it being the smallest P5 one around at just under 33k.
Yankee Stadium is playing host to fricking Duke which is another small private school that has issues filling its own stadium. To top it off, its YANKEE STADIUM. Football played in baseball stadiums SUCKS arse for about 75% of the seating.
St Pete Bowl has Marshall and UConn in a noon game. UConn does exactly have a huge fan base when it comes to football and has issues drawing home crowds. Marshall probably has a bigger travel fanbase when it comes to football and its not like they are a huge school either.
The Indy Bowl is hosting Tulsa which is one of the smallest FBS schools in all of CFB w/just 4,300 students on campus, a quarter of which are grad students who likely DGAF about their school's sports. They also have trouble selling out their 30k stadium even in years they are really good b/c most people in Oklahoma are either OU or Okie Light fans.

I go to most of the VT bowl games, but these games the day after Christmas is just a killer.
But ESPN rules all, so they have to spread them out.

Yeah. It's plural for stadium...

Make it so you have to win 7 games, not have teams with 7 losses in bowl games. It is crazy that a coach can get a 300K performance bonus while losing 8 games.

Yes. I am stationed in Hawaii and was able to make it to the Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve. My ticket cost $10 and the crowd was smaller than a lot of my high school football games.

would literately do nothing when schools like Duke, Miami, Wazzu, Tulsa, etc w/small fan bases make it to a bowl.
there are only a handful of schools with fan bases large enough to consistently travel well for bowls.

Bring it on Walt. Thanks for admitting my Lsu education meant something.

When I lived in Jacksonville my daughter's school did a fundraiser for Gator Bowl tickets..$10 each. It was a no brainier to buy four in September to help the school and while they weren't club seats by any stretch it was a cheap way to get in and something fun to do on NYD. Even so, there would still be empty seats for most games.
I wonder it any of the bowls do this, or if the locals just DGAF.

I'm guessing it'll be weak sauce b/c going to Shreveport sucks. The only thing that kinda sorta makes the trip worthwhile is the legal gambling. Unfortunately that plus is negated for Tulsa fans since they have casinos in OK as well. I'm also guessing the average VaTech fan that wants to gamble probably heads over to West Va.
That stadium is a big fat POS and I usually don't complain about older stadiums.
Plus, like I said earlier, they have Tulsa which may be nearby relatively speaking but they have such a small following I doubt they are going to bring many people in when they were only 6-6 and are facing a 6-6 VPI. They might get a small bump from Hokie fans since its Beamer's last game but overall it'll be weak.
Also not sure about the weather that far East but North Texas has a shite load of tornado warnings going on right now so it's possible that game will lose a few people to the weather.
