They need to reinvest in their defense. They're had injuries, which coupled with the new 4-3 defensive scheme, has wrecked their ability to stop anyone consistently.
A OC that will stick to a running game will also help.

The Cowboys are the most average team in the NFL. They finished 8-8 for the 3rd year in a row and are 136-136 dating back to 1997. Nothing special.

Garretts been the coach for 3 years and this is the 3rd year in a row that Dallas has lost the regular season finale to finish 8-8 and second in the division. Definition of stagnant.
Maybe if Jones hadn't gone full retard and fired Rob Ryan last year we would have seen some improvement from the defense. But no, he decides to hire someone that resembles the crypt keeper and couldn't keep a job on his own son's team because his defense was so bad.
Meanwhile Philly and KC are in the playoffs with first year coaches
I want to give Garrett the benefit of the doubt since he doesn't coach the defense but at this point it might be better to start fresh with someone new
