The NFL has unveiled the 10 quarterbacks named to the league’s all-time team. And two of the all-time greats have been left out.

Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees didn’t earn a spot on the roster.

The 10 quarterbacks are, in alphabetical order, Sammy Baugh, Tom Brady, John Elway, Brett Favre, Otto Graham, Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Roger Staubach, and John Unitas.

It’s difficult to compare quarterbacks between era, especially given the rules changes in the 1970s aimed at pumping up offense. Still, it’s hard not to imagine Rodgers or Brees thriving in any era, and their omission likely will make some waves.

Not a Saints fan by any means but it's a joke that Elway and Staubach made the list over Brees.

So the guy that will hold every QB record isn’t a top 10 QB. Par for the course for the NFL.

Brees is one of the most underrated players in NFL history on a national level. Always has been true, always will be apparently.

If you think Brees belongs over Staubach you are just jaded. Elway is a legitimate complaint I believe. But when you look at the list all have multiple NFL Titles and were the biggest draw on biggest team. Except Marino is considered the best arm and release in history and shattered records.

Marino, Favre, Staubach, and fricking Elway are objectively behind Brees.

ETA - maybe not Marino, got a little carried away.

I'll let them slide because of the era being difficult to compare. Whatever. Favre and Elway are a joke though.

At the time of his retirement, Staubach was 19th all-time in passing yards and 23rd in passing TDs. Brees will be #1 or #2 all-time in both lists when he retires. At the time of his retirement, Staubach was #6 all-time in completion percentage which is tremendous. Brees is #1 all-time in completion percentage. Staubach made the Pro Bowl six times. Brees has made 13 Pro Bowls. What argument does Staubach have over Brees except ringz?

Elway is overrated. Go review his numbers.

If Staubach played for San Diego he wouldn't have sniffed the list.

ETA - 1 second team all Pro his entire career, for example.

Just a 42 year old QB with 6 rings? No other active players?

He made on second team all pro despite playing during an era when no other all-timer made the list.

Brees has 5 first or second team selections while playing with Manning and Brady.

Staubach has zero case over Brees other than nostalgia.

ETA - and Rodgers.

Would anybody put Timmy Chang or Case Keenum on a list for top all-time college QBs?

Stats matter but they aren't everything.

Brees is like Andy Murray - he's great but he had the misfortune of being born during the same era as THREE others who were (arguably) the best to ever play.

I really hope you aren't talking about Rodgers.
