Vin Scully on Don Zimmer

Pretty nice anecdote about bench clearing brawls at the end there.

Scully could read the phone book and it would be amazing.

Don was the coach of the Cubs when I started watching baseball. I loved the guy.

Great write up on MLB.com.

RIP POPEYE

My favorite line....

"He knew Babe Ruth, played with Jackie Robinson, and coached Derek Jeter."

What a career!!

Wearing my Cubbie hat today in his honor.

Watching some tapes of interviews with him over the yrs & 2 stood out. When asked bout the Bucky Dent homerun, he replied, "no, it was the PEEEPED OUT Bucky Dent homerun." Then, again in reference to B.Dent, he said "it's a long story but I rented out Dent's home when I first got to NY & a picture of his homerun swing was in EVERY room".They were interviewing Jeter this morning & he broke up in tears afer only a mumbles of "he will be missed". And: Frick pedro.
