Well thanks for calling me a moron for stating my opinion.

The bowl games have been terrible. All we've had is wild card playoff games, we have 4 games this weekend. And they can't possibly be any worse than the bull shite bowl games this season.

Last seasons playoffs:
NFC championship went into OT; great game
AFC championship came down to a missed kick; great game
The Saints/49ers divisional game was one of the most entertaining I've ever seen, even though it tore my heart in pieces. It's an instant classic and could be considered one of if not the greatest playoff game (especially that 4th quarter)
Tebow pulling off the upset of the Steelers; improbable and awesome
And, The Superbowl was a good game

And to the person mentioning the blowouts of past Superbowls; yes, they used to be that way, but the parity wasn't close to how it is now. The Saints beat the Colts by 14, but that score doesn't show how close and exciting the game was. The year before, Arizona and Steelers was outstanding. Season before that, NY upsetting the unstoppable Patriots who were 18-0. And the last 2 have been entertaining as well. Teams can be awful on year, and flip it the next. College has been all Bama lately, and the only thing I'm really excited about watching next season is Manziel, and of course I will support all of the Louisiana teams.

NFL is king for a reason, and will remain that way. And the product of College football as of late is only helping that spot stay secure.

blowouts in the playoffs and Super Bowl all the damn time.

not lately. The last 5 Super Bowls have all been damn good football games to watch.

college football has produced some bullshite title games the last few years though. The rematch of Alabama-LSU sucked the big one. To all of you SEC homers it was legit but nobody else cared about that game. And the game tonight was an awful display. Notre Dame was a classic fraud case who played over their head this year.

Some of the better bowls have gone to shite lately too. The attendance at the Orange Bowl and the Sugar Bowl the last few years have sucked.

Just no. Fix the post-season (which is in progress) and cfb is way more entertaining. NFL is too corporate and bland and homogenous.

well despite having much less entertaining games each week with way less skilled players and worse coaches

That's a good point. How many people on this board were complaining that the NFL was a bad product in the '80s and '90s because the NFC always crushed the AFC in Super Bowls every year? Remember the early '90s when the Cowboys and 49ers were so far ahead of the rest of the league that it felt like nobody else had a chance? How the NFL rarely had more two or three competitive playoff games after the Wild Card round? I don't remember all this complaining about the product being unwatchable back then.

The NFL's postseason format (playoffs with >2 rounds immediately following the end of the regular season) should lead to more exciting postseason games, because it favors teams that play well late. But the FBS's postseason format (one game, or on the horizon, a 2-round playoff, both several weeks removed from the end of the regular season) is much more selective, which makes the regular season more exciting and (in my opinion) crowns a more legitimate champion.

I am a huge CF fan, but as a neutral observer, last nights game was so lopsided it was boring. I like competitive matchups, and the NFL has them in spades in the postseason games.

Definitely, which is a plus for the NFL, for sure. My personal stance has been that NFL and FBS football are different brands, both worthy of my time and attention, for different reasons. Tonight just illustrated that sometimes the most talented teams in FBS ball don't compete for a championship. I see no problem with that if the reason for that is underperformance by the most talented teams and not due to a perfectly worthy team being left out.

I don't believe that was the case this year. Oregon, Kansas State, the other SEC teams, all of them had a crack at the title and blew their chances. Notre Dame's schedule wasn't significantly worse than the other top teams' schedules - all of them only had to get up for a few games this year, and each of those few games were against reasonably good opponents. We're not talking about something like 2007 Hawai'i.

All of that said, one thing I wish the bowls could have had during the BCS era - and that I'm thankful they'll have a little more flexibility to do in the new playoff system - is the freedom to pick more competitive matches featuring top teams. The 2-team-per-conference rule has relegated several top teams even within the past five years to lower bowls, and the automatic bids have compelled bowls to allow less worthy (or even outright unworthy) teams a shot. I appreciate, for instance, that the Rose Bowl this year was competitive, but an 8-5 Wisconsin team had no business being there. 12-1 Northern Illinois had no business being in the Orange Bowl. Hawai'i didn't belong in the 2008 Sugar Bowl. There are more examples. I think some of the most recent games have been poor because of well-intentioned rules regarding BCS selection that ultimately just diluted the product. Hopefully that changes with the new system.

Regular season:
CFB>NFL

Postseason:
NFL>CFB

Hell the conference championship games are better than the bowl games.

the LSU-Alabama games are probably better, but then you have to get through LSU-North Texas, LSU-Towson, etc. as well which are just a complete waste of time. Of course LSU-Alabama is gonna be big when Bama only plays 2-3 teams on their schedule instead of 16 that are capable of beating of them

college ball just has to eliminate the endless TV timeouts that made (for example) the ULL-East Carolina bowl drag

and that was a close game with a somewhat good atmosphere. even a great LSU game in Tiger Stadium drags.

i've never been to a Saints game that dragged like that. I watched the Texans and Bengals playoff game and it seemed commercial free compared to some college games

NFL is superior to college football in every aspect other than the tailgating experience.

The SEC has parity all over it. You are blind as a referee in tuscalossa CocoLoco!

1) You'll never get 100+ teams to all be on the same playing field. It will never happen.
2) Every game matters, unlike the NFL. Every game has implications on other games. Just because you don't take the time to understand this doesn't make it so.
3) There are great matchups every week, just because you don't take the time to understand what games to watch doesn't mean that there aren't great games to watch.

LSU-North Texas games don't matter. Quit kidding yourself, absolutely no chance of beating a good team

LSU and Bama absolutely destroyed every single team last season.

No postseason in any sport is better than the NFL playoffs. IMO, the perfect number of teams make the playoffs, the schedules are perfect, the intensity and urgency are as high as possible, and every game is win-or-go-home. In addition, I think any playoff team can win any given game; there are no sure bets. Ultimately, I think the best team wins the SB, but every playoff team has a chance. In contrast, for example, Notre Dame had no chance whatsoever last night.

Teams with losing records (7-9 Seattle) get to play home playoff games in the NFL which is absolutely ridiculous.

True for the most part but really the only time big OOC games are played are in the first few weeks. This year kind of stunk but 2011 had some great early season OOC matchups like Oregon/LSU and Georgia/Boise St. It will be the same this next season.
