I love how "you can make an argument" between Bradshaw and Marino but compare Roger Staubach to Tony Romo and it's "not close".

Romo vs Aikman? "Dude, one guy has three rings, the other has none."
Again, I never said that directly, but thanks!
I get that you guys are Romo homeboys. That is fine, didn't mean to offend. But he's not top 5 all time in my mind.

Vice-President of Deflection.

It really is not that close between those two. Roger is clearly the better QB. Roger did more and was the better overall QB. Last year though showed that the gap is not as wide as once thought. But it also showed you miss 2 big guys from an offense you are in real trouble.

I don't get your anger. Fine, you think Romo is the best QB in NFL history. I disagree. It's Ok, it really is.
I guess I should appreciate your passion. I don't, but I should.

Not angry at all. Heart rate is normal.
Deflection, deflection, deflection... disappear.

I forget, for millennials trophy's are for everyone. My bad. Yes, rings aren't a measure at all. Not even the smallest amount. What is the measuring stick, 300 yard passing games?
Do not understand the concept of football being a team game?
Was Romo supposed to run out there and play middle LB too?

It is kind of impossible to compare QB's from different eras. When Bradshaw played, the rules were different, so it is impossible to make number comparisons. Holding was a 15 yard penalty, and it was a spot foul. Holding was generally well behind the line of scrimmage, so you could easily lose 20 to 25 yards of field position on a holding call. D linemen could get OL players out of the way with a roundhouse blow to the head. Roughing the QB was just part of the game. OL players couldn't grab anything to protect the QB. DB's could and would target receivers. Receivers could get manhandled by the DB at any point until the ball was thrown. A QB couldn't just throw the ball away. He had to target an eligible receiver. Blah. Blah. Blah. In short, passing had way more danger than it does now, so teams did it less.
If you put a current QB into a game with the rules from the 60's and 70's, he would run a few plays, and then run to the sideline yelling, "Oh hell no. Not doing that."

Better QB, Eli Manning or Drew Brees? Eli Manning or Aaron Rodgers?
And again, why do you factor in things re: Bradshaw's better team vs Marino's, but you don't do the same for Romo vs Aikman?

To be fair, Romo has some good teams. It wasn't like he was out there by himself trying to make plays. Are you insinuating that? During their super bowl runs Aikman certainly had some better players around him, but to act like Romo was barehanded out there is pretty disingenuous.
Without looking at their stats, I would say Manning/Brees/Rodgers have had very similar careers. Brees I'm sure has more yards, Eli and Peyton more SB wins. Peyton would have never won a 2nd super bowl if it weren't for his defense. I don't give him full credit for that win. As I recall, his SB win was against a career backup, should we take away points for that?
Would I say that Trent Dilfer is a better QB than Romo, no, not even close. But you can't fully discount career accomplishments just because you like one player better than another. That alone doesn't make him a better player.

in the 50's a man with the ball could get back up and run again if he was knocked to the ground without really being tackled down.
as a result guys were being speared in the act of getting to their feet.
it was brutal.

Romo has NEVER had a team anywhere near the talent level Aikman had during those SB runs. This isn't even debatable. Emmitt > constantly injured Marion Barber and Demarco Murray. Irvin and Harper > team killer TO and Patrick "Big Game" Crayton or Dez and Terrence Williams. 90s o-line > current o-line. The only thing on offense that Romo has > Troy is Witten.
The gap is especially blatant when you compare the defenses to the point there is no need to even go through the players.
Then when you get to the coaching he has had to be under? Holy hell, it's like comparing Nick Saban to Curley Hallman.

I never said it compared apples to apples, but to say Romo hasn't had good teams around him isn't fair either. It's not quite Archie Manning and the Saints.
Jerry Jones has always bought talent. Chemistry plays a factor as well.

How about comparing Romo and Jay Cutler? Is that a fair comparison?
Posted on 9/26/16 at 5:08 pm to kywildcatfanone
He's had three teams worth a damn and all three were heavily flawed and rife w/deficient coaching. Two of those teams lost playoff games due to WRs not making critical catches that would have more than likely won the game (be straight drops or horrible catch/no catch interpretation of the rules).

Romo is respected.
Cutler is a douche.
