Miami should quit wasting their time and hire Mike Leech.

They need someone with attitude there.

If Nebraska finds the right coach I think they will be just fine. They've been selling out games since the 60's and have some really good facilities.

They also surprisingly recruit California really well.

In college football today, more often than not it just comes down to having the right coach.

Wisconsin may not have high recruiting rankings for 10 years but they always seem to be good every year( this year included). And they don't have the same history or brand name that Nebraska does. Why can't they follow the same strategy?

Miami is in fertile grounds yes. But the entire SEC( minus maybe A&M, Arky and Mizzou) is in Florida. Clemson has heavy pull in Florida. Florida has sucked the last two years and we're beating them for recruits. FSU is too. And they only get on TV twice a year when they're playing FSU and when they are playing a big OOC game( like last week).

Miami can, but they need more support from the school. Yes, the fan base blows, but as long as the ADept via the school commits to the right coach, their location makes it possible

Nebrask fits in perfectly in the B1G. A former powerhouse who's best days are in the rear view, largely bc of lack of recruiting grounds, population shifts, and additional TV coverage of non powers. Even with a great coach, they're behind the 8 ball in the scheme of things bc recruiting is so difficult there. Hell, CUM is having his struggles at tOSU which is exponentially easier to win at. Nebraska's future is a 9 win team who can rise up once a decade when the planets align and contend in the playoff. Otherwise, they're a non factor nationally.

i agree, but rising coaching stars won't go to Nebraska. It's so much easier to win elsewhere. SC and Texas were open last winter and neither of them could get their top choices. Nebraska could get lucky and hire some diamond in the rough guy who turns out awesome, but I think they're more likely to hire a Callahan than a pelini

Nebraska isn't in nearly as bad of shape as some want to believe.

They were in the last two Big XII title games, should have beaten a Texas team that went to the BCS title game and went toe-to toe with Oklahoma.

They have a good chance to win 10 games this year and finally get over the 9-4 hump. They have tremendous facilities, one of the best fan bases in America and if they start winning 10+ games a year and contending for the BIG championship/playoffs they will start to appear more and more on TV, start off with higher pre-season rankings and become more and more prominent on the national scene.

No reason they can't become a major player again. They are already getting some great athletes (Abdullah is possibly the best RB in the nation, Randy Gregory is a beast and Tommy Armstrong is a very good young QB with lots of upside potential).

Also have to add the Pelini has improved as a coach and this year team has looked pretty solid (aside from one game).

They aren't in bad shape at all right now and should be in contention for a spot in the BIG title game and if they can knock off Michigan State will be in position to be a top 10 team before the end of the year.

Nebraska's been screwed since they couldn't take partial qualifiers anymore.

I think hiring Bill Callahan screwed them over more than that.

Bill Callahan loaded Nebraska up with talent, he was just a horrible head coach. I think the talent is down now.

Yeah like I said earlier, all they have to do is win the Midwest in recruiting and they can be a power in the big 10

Exactly, and doing that will get them ranked in the op 10-15 each year with occasional top 5 rankings and playoff spots. Granted, that wouldn't pout them in the same place they were in the 90's but it would put them on par, or slightly above, where Ohio State is now. That would be a return to national prominence.

Your sig isn't as funny as you think it is. 127K people don't follow Vegas betting experts unless they are good, and the guy was right. LeBron went back to Cleveland.

It's still hard to believe that since joining the ACC in 2004, Miami has yet to win their division.

Stil....I think Miami can easily be the program they once were. I read where the school President is stepping down so that is a start.

They definitely can but it will be tougher with UCF and USF having teams now, not to mention that Florida is much better than they were during Miami's run in the 80's/90's

Never say never with Nebraska. They have the resources, fan base, and facilities. Sure they don't have many instate recruits, but neither does Oregon or Oklahoma.

"Dominant" is a relative term.

Could either be elite programs again? Sure. It just takes the right coach.

Miami is more likely in the short term, they just need a new coach. Nebraska is more of a challenge, bc the recruiting has not been there in recent years. If you are going to recruit every year in the 20-30 range, you better have a lights out offensive system (Oregon esque).

We have 10 players from the Miami-Dade/Ft. Lauderdale area alone. Almost all are major contributors or starters (Alex Collins, to name one).

That's part of Miami's problem -- they don't have a coaching staff who can keep players home.
